Another 239 players piled into Dusk Till Dawn casino in Nottingham on Thursday afternoon to compete in the 2016 partypoker WPT UK Main Event Day 1b. Shefan’s only recorded live tournament cash was a 53rd place finish in the 2014 GUKPT Goliath tournament, which netted him £680. Should Shefan continue as he has started this £2,200 buy in event, he should fill his pockets with a much more substantial cash prize.

There is still a long way to go before Shefan and any of the other surviving players can see any return on their investment, and the field is a real star-studded affair.

Spain’s Javier Gomez, winner of the €3,300 WPT Prague Main Event in December 2015, ended Day 1b with a healthy stack of 136,375, while Ben Heath’s heater continues with the talented youngster bagging up 130,050 chips at the close of play.

Fresh from his Devilfish Cup final table appearance, Manig Loeser finished with 112,500 chips, enough for a top 10 chip counts, while the likes of Kevin Allen (109,000), Surinder Sunar (91,300), Steve Watts (87,500), Ryan Spittles (75,125), Jamie O’Connor (65,825), Patrick Leonard (65,000), former footballer Anthony Gardner (62,825), Paul Romain (62,450), Michael Kane (56,000), Ludovic Geilich (54,775), Jonathan Gill (53,900), Matas Cimbolas (50,250), Roberto Romanello (40,150), Paul Jackson (32,375), Niall Farrell (30,625), WPT500 UK champion Ben Winsor (23,125), Marcel Luske (17,625), and Marc Foggin (9,300) were among those who progressed to Friday’s Day 2.

Players can buy into the Main Event for £2,200 until 4:20 p.m. on Friday and jump straight into Day 2. We’d expect the likes of William Kassouf, Paul McTaggart, John Eames, and Simon Deadman to take another bite at the £1 million guaranteed cherry after busting on Day 1b.
