Sunday Briefing: Sam Grafton Wins the Hot $162

There was a familiar name at the top of the PokerStars Hot $162 leaderboard this Sunday, that of popular grinder Sam “SamSquid” Grafton.

Grafton topped a field of 540 to get his hands on the $14,332.47 first-place prize, outlasting two other Brits at the final table, namely “Palmero92” (fifth for $3,975.01), and Phil “PhilRoyal888” Mighall (fourth for $5,477.49).

This victory wasn’t the only PokerStars tournament won by a British player this Sunday because “trickyone14” took down the Big $162 for $4,908.82, and UK-based Spaniard David “davaman” Lopez triumphed in the Hot $162 for $7,003.69.

Also in the winner’s circle was Matthew “wazzo11” Spurring who won the $109 Bounty Builder for $10,303.61.

Other large scores from PokerStars tournaments include:

  • “Z-ENERGIES” – third-place in the Big $109 for $12,333.15
  • “LittleLettuS” – runner-up in the Super-Sized Sunday for $23,687.30
  • Jamie “Ship It 2010” O’Connor – fifth-place in the Super-Sized Sunday for $9,232.86
  • “bk0705” – sixth-place in the Super-Sized Sunday for $7,348.25
  • John “LeNaber” Howlett – sixth-place in the Sunday Million for $38,867.20
  • “ross_654” – fourth-place in the Hot $109 for $6,803.35
  • “Fear1sWisdom” – runner-up in the Sunday Grand for $43,935
  • “dappadan777” – third-place in the Sunday Supersonic for $18,654.65

Over at 888poker, “AhCacao” collected $8,651.28 by finishing fifth in the $100,000 Whale, while another UK-based Spaniard Sergio “trujustrus” Cabrera finished second in the same tournament for $22,374.

The $100,000 Mega Deep had “igotprice” at its final table; they bust in seventh-place for $4,192.50.

Three British players reached the final table of the $50,000 Sunday Crocodile. “JstLikeThat” fell in eighth-place for $1,498.50 with “Bastettt” being the runner-up for $9,324. Winning the $12,654 first-place prize was Patrick “d1sclosure” Leonard, who won an 888poker Sunday Major last week, too.

Another 888poker winner was “anmols94” who secured the $16,476.37 first-place prize in the $80,000 Sunday Challenge.

At partypoker, Jareth “jareth3542” East helped himself to the $5,876.25 fifth-place money in the $150,000 Main Event.
