UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Phil Mighall Cracks Worldwide Top 10

Phil Mighall
  • Phil Mighall climbs to second in the UK and a career-high eighth in the worldwide online poker rankings.

Phil “philroyal888” Mighall is up to second place on the United Kingdom’s online poker rankings, and has climbed to a career-high of eighth in the world according to the system.

It seems like each time we check Mighall’s results, there is a five-figure score mixed in, and this week was no different because the Brighton grinder took down the $1,050 Sunday Grand PLO at PokerStars for $38,400. The leaderboard points Mighall earned for this win were enough to see him break into the worldwide top 10 for the first time in his career.

With so many of our top players currently in Las Vegas for the 2016 World Series of Poker, or planning on heading there shortly, there hasn’t been much change to the UK’s top 20. Conor Beresford still leads, with new 888poker Ambassador Chris Moorman one place behind the aforementioned Mighall in third.

Andy “andyh26” Holman climbed one place to 18th, while Owain “sngwonder” Carey returned to the top 20, in 20th place, thanks in part to a runner-up finish in the partypoker High Roller for $9,350 and a third place in the PokerStars Mini Super Tuesday for $11,261.

Steve O’Dwyer Returns to the Irish Top 20

Steve O’Dwyer is back in the Irish top 20, returning to 19th place in the rankings. Several cashes during the recent Spring Championship Of Online Poker have helped propel the Global Poker Index’s number one back into the online limelight.

Also returning to the Irish top 20 is Dino “dinos622” Sabatini, thanks partly to Sergio “EV4dGloryOMC” Garcia finally dropping out due to not playing any tournaments so far in 2016.

Shout outs also go to Dara “Doke” O’Kearney for winning the $25,000 Guaranteed at Americas Cardroom for $5,934 plus a fourth place in the PokerStars Big $215 for $4,219 among several other final table finishes, and to both Conor “ccoonnoorr” O’Driscoll and Nicholas “YerSoLucky” Newport who enjoyed a few four-figure scores between them this past week.
