Brazil’s Joao “joaosimoabh” Simao won the May edition of the Grand Prix Poker Tour (GPPT) Online leg in early May, turning his $109 into $42,643.33 in the process. That particular tournament carried a $300,000 guarantee, which was hit when 3,217 entrants took to the partypoker felt.
The latest online leg of the GPPT is currently in play, and features a $400,000 guaranteed prize pool. Advertising surrounding event is billing the tournament as “the road to one million,” with partypoker and Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) promising to up the guarantee by $100,000 for each subsequent GPPT Online leg every time the guarantee is hit, up to $1 million.
If PokerNews’ sources are correct, players could be in for a longer wait for a $500,000 guaranteed event that expected as this current tournament looks set to miss the guarantee by approximately $100,000, which happens to be great news for the value hunters among you.
The GPPT Online is a multi-day tournament, with at least four Day 1s taking place every between now and Day 2 on Monday 6 June. Entry costs $109, and players can play in as few or many Day 1s as they wish, but only their largest stack is taken through to Day 2 with them.
A total of 16 levels are played on each Day 1 with most being 12-minutes, although there are some turbo and 6-max format on the evening of June 6 so that players progressing to Day 2 can actually compete on Day 2.
