  • The WPT Amsterdam €3,300 Main Event gets underway May 10 with live coverage from PokerNews.

Right now, all eyes in the poker world are trained on European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo, but in a few short days, there's another big event in Europe: World Poker Tour Amsterdam.

The WPT Amsterdam €3,300 Main Event kicks off May 10 from Holland Casino with the first of two starting days. The tournament will allow reentry into Day 1b for players eliminated during Day 1a action. It will also utilize a "best stack forward" format — players bagging Day 1a may also play Day 1b and keep their biggest stack for Day 2.

Last year at WPT Amsterdam, a field of 341 showed out, and Farid Yachou (pictured) took it down for €201,000. Steven Warburton (2nd), Jason Wheeler (6th),Louis Salter (9th), and Sorel Mizzi (10th) also made top-10 runs.

Yachou's win was the beginning of "a true Cinderella story" that saw him recently take down the WPT Tournament of Champions. PokerNews profiled Yachou right here.

Just like last year, the Main Event will be covered by the PokerNews Live Reporting team.

The Main Event will be preceded by a €6,000 High Roller with unlimited re-entry that begins May 9 and lasts two days.

As an aside, the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker will be running starting May 8, so the beginning of the series will coincide with WPT Amsterdam. For players looking to max out on tournament poker action, bringing a computer to Amsterdam and double dipping online and live is surely the play.
