Sunday Briefing: Rick Trigg Wins the partypoker Main Event
Although the partypoker Powerfest, PokerStars Spring Championship Of Online Poker, and 888poker Super XL Series all ended last week, there were still plenty of large prize pools played for online this Sunday, and once again there were plenty of players from the United Kingdom and Ireland who found themselves with big scores to shout about.
One such player was Sheffield’s Rick “tHeClaImEr1” Trigg who walked away with the $24,864.13 first place prize in the partypoker $150,000 guaranteed Main Event. The victory takes Trigg to more than $6.4 million in online tournament winnings.
Trigg’s fellow Brit, Shane “G3TPawn3d” Mossop finished third in the same tournament and banked $14,153.21.
Over at 888poker, reigning Irish Open champion Daniel Wilson was the runner-up in the $120,000 Whale. Wilson, playing as “xXGlamBabeXx” banked $25,560.60 for his second place finish. Shoutout to London’s “ckb4714” who joined Wilson at the Whale’s final table, falling in seventh place for $5,993.52.
Two other popular Sunday 888poker tournaments are the $50,000 Sunday Crocodile and the $80,000 Sunday Challenge. The former saw “igotprice” finish third for $7,333.87 while the latter had Conor “GodfryJones” O’Driscoll (ninth for $1,304.03), “petronela28” (sixth for $4,213.02), and Rick “whostoclaim” Trigg (fourth for $7,473.09) at the final table.
Several of our players enjoyed the sweet taste of success at PokerStars on Sunday. For example, “Kashmir_uzi” helped themselves to the $15,912.75 runner-up prize in the Sunday Kickoff, and “DapperTan” collected $7,664.06 for their fifth place finish in the Big $109.
In the Hot $162, “10111420” and “HKN291209” finished sixth and fifth for scores of $3,440.23 and $4,615.69, with “flong78” and UK-based Spaniard “LocoVitto” finishing fourth and third in the Super-Sized Sunday Progressive KO for $15,211.87 and $20,282.50 additions to their bankrolls.
One of the larger scores from Sunday went to “MrlonV” courtesy of their runner-up finish in the Sunday Grand, which was worth a cool $51,870; “Baby Federer” joined them at the final table, but bust in eighth place for $8,190.
Rounding out the PokerStars results are a third place for “robbydoooo” in the Big $215 for $15,147.06, a third place in the Sunday Cooldown for David “Clarkson7” Clarkson worth $13,221, a runner-up finish in the Sunday Cooldown for “tnb1990” worth $19,663.58, and a win for Charlie “Epiphany77” Carrel in the Hot $215 that netted the popular grinder $18,343.50.
