Hundreds of the United Kingdom and Ireland’s top online poker tournament specialists have swapped the comfort of their own homes for the lavish surroundings of Monaco where they are competing for honours at the 2016 European Poker Tour Grand Final, but that didn’t stop several huge Sunday score being enjoyed by some of our talented grinders.
Jonathon “whollyflush” Prested claimed by far the largest score of his career to date thanks to being the runner-up in this weekend’s Sunday Million at PokerStars. Prested, from Newcastle, banked $125,843.30 after outlasting all but one of the 5,401 entrants in online poker’s biggest weekly tournament.
Prested’s fellow Brit, Liverpool’s James “BlindRazorJJ” Walsh also gave his bankroll a significant boost by finishing in third-place for $88,954.47.
Dean “DeanoSupremo” Lyall was another third-place finisher, this time in the Sunday Kickoff, a result worth $13,149.00. “albertshaw” bust in sixth-place in the same tournament and collected $5,478.75.
One of the newer PokerStars events, the Sunday Starter, saw Phil “bergeroo” Huxley chop it heads-up, before finishing in second-place, for $6,506.72, while Greg “SeeYouAnte18” Chambers had a brace of excellent results, first finishing ninth in the Sunday Warm-Up for $3,800, and then winning the Sunday Grand for a cool $85,995.00; “david owie” finished sixth in the Sunday Grand for $24,570.00.
Keeping with PokerStars, a special mention to “flong78” who was the Big $109’s runner-up, a finish worth $21,186.16, to “thehushpuppy” who banked $5,202.41 for his fifth-place finish in the Hot $162, to “viking47” who chopped the Hot $109 for $19,904.05, and to “koleo10000” the runner-up in the Hot $215 for $15,999.09.
Over at Full Tilt, “Dannyfpoole” took down the T-Rex for $2,475.52, which included eight bounties worth a combined $1,306.24, leaving us with a round-up of the 888poker action.
The $150,000 Whale returned to 888poker this week and was one by the UK’s “preyondaline” for $32,236.35, the largest score on the site during Sunday. Ireland’s “Redser3000” bagged themselves a $12,500 World Series of Poker Main Event package, while Baard “bvdahl” Dahl and James “jamearl69” Earl finished second and third in the $70,000 Crocodile for scores of $10,574.47 and $7,787.70.
