The home of Leeds United, Elland Road, is the venue for the latest stop of the partypoker Grand Prix Poker Tour (GPPT) where a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool is up for grabs for a mere $109 investment.
Feedback about the GPPT has been positive since the tour’s creation, with players claiming it is giving them a Las Vegas experience (due to the huge field sizes) and the chance to win a big score ($35,000 is guaranteed for first place) for a relatively small buy-in, a buy-in that can be even smaller due to satellites, starting as low as $0.01, running around the clock at partypoker.
The first live GPPT Leeds Day 1 takes place at midday on April 9 and sees players sit down with 20,000 chips and play to a 30-minute clock where blinds start at 50/100. There is a second live Day 1 at 5:00 p.m. on April 9, with a third and final live Day 1 scheduled for 8:00 p.m., this one being played to a six-handed format.
Players have the opportunity to play three more Day 1s online at partypoker. On April 7-9, at 9:00 p.m., partypoker is hosting a $109 buy-in online leg where players receive the same 20,000 chips as the live legs, but blinds increase every 12-minutes to account for the faster dealing speed; all Day 1s see 16 levels played.
While April 9 is dedicated solely to the GPPT Leeds Main Event, April 10 sees the GPPT Leeds Main Event conclude and two $109 buy-in side events take place.
The first of these two tournaments is a $50,000 guaranteed affair that kicks off at 1:00 p.m. and the second is a $10,000 guaranteed event commencing at 6:00 p.m.

Everyone who manages to navigate their way through to Day 2 of the GPPT Leeds Main Event does so knowing they are in the money places, and part of their prize money is a $109 ticket to a future GPPT event.
Main Event players can also play in as many Day 1s as they wish, but it is only possible to take their largest stack through to Day 2.
Last time the GPPT headed to an iconic football stadium it was atNewcastle United’s St. James’ Park where Nathan Farnaby was the last man standing, a result that banked him $35,000 in total. Farnaby has already qualified for Day 2 of the Leeds Main Event, could he become the tour’s first back-to-back champion?
