Edinburgh’s “CantWinAFlip” won more than a flip this weekend when he triumphed in the PokerStars Sunday Million and gave his bankroll a $174,951.74 shot in the arm.
Until this massive win, CantWinAFlip had won a shade over $22,000 from online poker tournaments, but was essentially breakeven over 3,000 tournaments according to tracking site Sharkscope. The huge prize for outlasting 5,592 opponents definitely changes that fact and the Scotsman is well and truly in profit.
There was another British player at the final table of the Sunday Million, “david owie,” who finished in a respectable fifth place for $47,540.50.
Two more players with Union Jacks next to their alias took down PokerStars Sunday majors this week, the first being “farmjim” who won the Sunday Rebuy and collected $37,034.83 after a heads-up chop.
The second was “DuTTiFruTTi9” who secured the title of Bigger $109 champion, an accolade worth $36,928.00. “Big Popp4” was also present at the Bigger $109 final table although their tournament came to an end in third place for a score weighing in at $20,102.68.
Other majors scores at PokerStars this Sunday included:
- “candy1984” – Eighth place in the Sunday Rebuy for $4,792.50
- Ben “1Don’tStop1” Heath – Second place in the Bounty Builder for $12,014.06
- “cwirek1982” – Sixth place in the Sunday 500 for $13,356.00
- Martin “susie00” Malone– Third place in the Bigger $162 for $17,964.57

888poker once again produced some big scores for those calling the United Kingdom home. Phil “PRoyal888” Mighall fell in ninth place in the $150,000 Whale for $4,393.44 with “duchasp4rati” busting in sixth place for $8,054.64. The deepest any of the Brits went was “g.s.p.888” who was eliminated in fifth place for $10,434.42.
Over in the $120,000 Mega Deep, UK-based Spaniard “CrackdeI29” finished in second place for $20,645.60 while “HazardCosta” and “moccastube” saw their tournaments come to an abrupt end in sixth and seventh place for scores of $6,619.20 and $5,043.20.
Still with 888poker and into the $100,000 Sunday Challenge where PokerStars employee Baard “bvdahl” Dahl collected $3,421.65 for his seventh place finish, with “SpaceBonyiga” falling in fourth place for $7,929.55, and finally Daniel “badrobot27” Charlton narrowly missed out on winning the $50,000 Turbo Mega Deep, busting in second place for $9,019.00.
With the partypoker Powerfest progressing to its Heavyweight category there were some big prize pools on offer. One was the $109 buy-in $250,000 guaranteed event that Patrick “plenopads” Leonard finished fifth in for $12,500.00.
Another was the $100,000 guaranteed Powerfest Week 2 Main Event that saw it’s guarantee smashed by $32,100. One beneficiary of this was Scotland’s Owen “currie77” Currie who helped himself to the $7,727.85 fourth place prize.
