Sweden's Niklas "Tjeeeena" Astedt Wins Two Powerfest High Roller Events On partypoker
Powerfest concluded its month long schedule on partypoker with 12 action-packed High Roller events.
On Sunday, March 20, an exciting month of action concluded on partypoker, with the final weekend of Powerfest.
Powerfest took place from Feb. 21 to March 20, featuring 98 action-packed events with over $5 million in guaranteed prize pools. The past week was the biggest of them all thanks to the High Roller portion of the series, headlined by 12 events with buy-ins ranging from $530-$5,200 and over $2.2 million in guaranteed prize pools.
Previous weeks featured lower buy-in events, including divisions dubbed Featherweight ($5.50-$11 buy-ins), Middleweight ($22-$55 buy-ins), and Heavyweight ($109-$215 buy-ins). Check out our recap here to learn more about the biggest winners in those events.
Highlights from High Roller Week
The highlight of the High Roller week was the Powerfest #96 — $500,000 Gtd — WEEK 4 MAIN EVENT with 928 entrants ponying up the $1,050 buy-in to generate a huge $928,000 prize pool. The tournament ended with a heads-up deal, and it was American poker refugee "DipesLIVES" officially coming out on top with a prize of $152,396. Argentina's Ivan "ivanvilchez8" Vilchez snagged second place for $136,212.
Also scoring big in the Main Event were Denmark's Rasmus "RasAAAAA" Agerskov Larsen (7th - $28,182) and the United Kingdom's Luke "GreenAsFelt" Haward (9th - $11,879).
Generating almost as big a prize pool was the last event on the schedule, Powerfest #98 — $500,000 Gtd, with 186 entrants buying in for $5,200 and creating a $930,000 prize pool. The event ended in a four-way deal with "Watnlos88" leading the way, banking $146,107.
Other players involved in the deal included "dafuqisdis" (2nd - $138,306), "SODA1RA" (3rd - $127,013), and "st_solo" (4th - $123,324).
Sweden's Astedt Wins Two
Meanwhle, Sweden's Niklas "Tjeeeena" Astedt did the almost unthinkable by shipping two events during High Roller week. First he won Powerfest #91 — $75,000 Gtd 6-Max on March 16 for $19,423 after agreeing to a deal with fellow country-mate Andreas "bushuset" Berggren before binking Powerfest #95 — $100,000 Gtd on March 19 for $34,960.
