Less than a week after Chris Reslock won his eighth World Series of Poker Circuit gold ring, Ari Engel did the same, emerging victorious in an event at the WSOP Circuit Harrah's Atlantic City to win his eighth gold ring.
Both Engel and Reslock now trail current leader Alex Masek by one gold ring.
Engel's victory came in Event #7: $580 No-Limit Hold'em in Atlantic City, where he beat a field of 123 entries to earn the top prize of $17,221. Engel defeated Brooklyn, NY's David Hom in second place, and Johanssy Joseph was the third-place finisher. Home took $10,643 and Joseph earned $7,683.
Final Table Results
The eighth gold ring win for Engel can be added to the large amount of success he's experienced throughout his poker career and specifically in 2016. Earlier this year, Engel scored the biggest win of his career by taking down the Aussie Millions Main Event to the tune of AU$1.6 million (approx. $1.12 million). In that event, Engel famously battled with Tony Dunst in heads-up play before taking the title in a field of 732 players. Dunst placed second for AU$1 million (approx. $700,000).
Other non-WSOP Circuit victories on Engel's live tournament résumé include the 2012 Empire State Poker Championships Main Event, the 2013 Heartland Poker Tour St. Louis Main Event, and the 2014 Punta Cana Poker Classic Main Event.
