UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Conor Beresford Enters Worldwide Top 50

Online poker rankings
Sharelines
  • Conor Beresford climbs to seventh-place in the UK online poker rankings and a career-high of 47th in the world.

  • Irish duo Daniel Tighe and Daragh Davey hit form at PokerStars.

With large sections of the United Kingdom and Irish poker communities otherwise engaged with the UKIPT and European Poker Tour (EPT) Dublin festivals, it was a rather quiet week at the virtual felt. That said, there were still some terrific results enjoyed by players from these countries, which resulted in some players climbing up their respective rankings.

Conor “1_conor_b_1_Beresford is one such player, having risen to seventh in the UK standings and a career-high of 47th in the world after PocketFives.com last updated their database. Beresford’s third-place finish in the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up for $41,089 is the main reason behind his meteoric rise, although his consistency over the past six months is also worth noting.

While it wasn’t the busiest of weeks for Phil “philroyal888” Mighall, the Brighton-based grinder did enjoy some success and is now only one place below his highest-ever world ranking of 51st. Mighall won the PokerStars $109+R NL Hold’em this week for $7,907 and also finished second in the $215 NL Hold’em Turbo for $3,246, also at PokerStars.

Special mentions go to Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer who finished third in the partypoker $150,000 Gtd Main Event for $15,000, to Rick “TheClaimer” Trigg who enjoyed wins in both the PokerStars $109 NL Hold’em Turbo ($4,777) and the $11+R NL Hold’em ($3,252) before winning the 888poker $4,000 8-Max Special for $987.

Kevin Killeen Continues to Dominate in Ireland

Kevin Killeen now has a near 800 point cushion between himself in top spot and Dan “NukeTheFish!” Wilson in second-place. The man calling Dublin home is now up to 57th in the world – a career-high — a position helped by him winning the $30,000 Gtd Drago tournament at partypoker for $7,859. There are also a couple of big scores from 888poker missing on Killeen’s profile, meaning he could find himself around 1,000 points clear at the next update.

Long-time Irish number one, Sergio “EV4dGloryOMC” Garcia slides to fourth-place this week as his absence from the virtual felt continues. Garcia hasn’t registered a single cash since December 27. It appears that Garcia may be leaving the online poker world if a recent tweet is anything to go on.

The tweet translates to “I regret to report I have left evstaking for personal reasons.

Daniel “danielt999” Tighe is up to seventh in Ireland and an all-time high of 249th in the world following a hat trick of wins at PokerStars. Tighe triumphed in the $55 NL Hold’em Turbo Ante-Up ($943), the Hot $82 ($8,446) and the $215 NL Hold’em ($6,624).

Another popular Irishman enjoying success at the felt this week was Daragh “daragh999” Davey. A runner-up finish in the $27 NL Hold’em 6-Max Hyper ($3,868) was followed up by a brace of wins in the $27 NL Hold’em Hyper-Turbo ($5,483) and the Hot €20 ($858).
