UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Serradell and Garcia Begin 2016 On Top

UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings
  • Chris Moorman up to third in the UK online poker rankings after a blistering start to 2016.

  • Kevin Killeen closes the gap at the top of the Irish rankings by winning the partypoker High Roller.

  • Oscar Serradell and Sergio Garcia begin 2016 at the top of the UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings.

Our first United Kingdom and Ireland online poker rankings update of 2016 reveals that two Spanish pros top their respective leaderboards, Oscar “MendaLerenda” Serradell in the UK and Sergio “EV4dGloryOMC” Garcia in Ireland.

Serradell has been ranked as high as sixth in the world and was one of the most consistent performers throughout 2015. The Bristol-based Spaniard only has one cash in 2016, an 11th place finish in the 888poker $50,000 Turbo Mega Deep worth $922, but the week prior to Christmas he finished fifth in the PokerStars Sunday Rebuy for $11,227.

Second place in the UK rankings, provided by, is a man who hit a rich vein of form towards the end of 2015. Stephen “woody1234321” Woodhead is less than 100 points behind Serradell and climbed to an all-time high of 25th in the world this week. A score similar to the $4,277 he picked up for his runner-up finish in the PokerStars $44 NL Hold’em Turbo would see him climb even higher.

Chris “Moorman1” Moorman has been fast out of the blocks since the New Year and now occupies third place in the UK, followed by Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson, and Andy “wiisssppppaa” Taylor.

Satellite specialist, Tom “Jabracada” Hall seems to be playing more cash tournaments of late so it is no surprise to see him climb to 13th in the UK and a career-high of 108th in the world.

Returning to the UK top 20 this week is Phill “Grindation” McAllister thanks in part to three victories in the past 10-days. McAllister won the $82 NL Hold’em 4-Max ($2,475), the $109 NL Hold’em 6-Max Rebuy ($4,880) and the $109 NL Hold’em Rebuy ($8,926), all at PokerStars, and has climbed to 15th in the UK as a result.

Garcia Leads In Ireland, But Is Under Pressure

Sergio “EV4dGloryOMC” Garcia led the Irish rankings from start-to-finish in 2015 and nobody looked like catching him. He starts 2016 with a sizeable 416.76 point lead over second-placed Kevin “SuitedAcesBaby” Killeen, but Killeen is already doing all he can to close that gap.

Killeen secured the sixth-largest online cash of his career last Sunday when he won the partypoker $150,000 Gtd High Roller for $27,780. That particular result gifted Killeen almost 390 points and will no doubt have boosted his confidence for the rest of the month and beyond.

Cathal “shinerrr” Shine finished ninth in the High Roller that Killeen won, another great result for the man from Kerry. Shine has been running well at partypoker and has won the $20,000 Gtd Turbo for $6,048 and finish third in the $10,000 Gtd for $1,220. However, his fourth place finish in the PokerStars Sunday 500 netted him $22,575 and set the tone for the rest of January.

Lastly, Daragh “daragh999” Davey’s runner-up finish in the PokerStars Hot $55 banked him $7,150 and saw him climb back into the Irish top 20 for the first time in a month.
