Sunday Briefing: cheekey4714 Chops Sunday Warm-Up For $46K
Another Sunday and another set of superb Sunday Majors results by players calling the United Kingdom and Ireland home. With so many of the world’s elite players grinding live at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas, the door was left open for those at home to grab the headlines, and “cheeky4714” took full advantage.
Cheeky4714 was one of 2,400 players to buy into the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up, helping to create a prize pool of $480,000. After more than 10-hours of action, cheeky4714’s run came to an end in second place, but not before he was involved in a four-way chop that netted him $46,276.82. Cheeky4714’s fellow Brit, “SpaceBonyiga,” finished in ninth place for $4,080.00.
There were two more British players at the final table of the Sunday Kickoff, namely “skadooshh” and “CKBT.” The former finished in third place and won $21,378.37 (after a three-way chop), with the latter falling in sixth place for $6,815.40.
Like the Sunday Kickoff, the $100,000 Guaranteed Bounty Builder had a brace of Union Jacks at its final table. “I Play Cash” went all the way and won the tournament for $13,349.85 with Paul “Fold Machiii” Dando busting in fifth place for a $4,221.43 addition to his bankroll.
Continuing the trend for two UK players at the final table was the Bigger $109 where former PKR Team Pro Dan “danshreddies” Callaghan finished in seventh place for $5,987.50 and “Sh0w3rs4u” sixth for $8,382.50.
Completing the PokerStars results for this Sunday were Andy “andyh26” Holman who came eighth in the Sunday $500 for $6,896.25, Ben “fabaz” Farrell who finished third in the Bigger $162 for $23,639.92, “mczhang” and his fifth place worth $10,231.20 in the Sunday 2nd Chance, and Kevin “torino2000” Killeen who was second in the Sunday 6-Max for $14,800.50.
888poker is usually a happy hunting ground for our players, but this week there were only a couple of major results of not, and both came in the $90 buy-in $100,000 Sunday Challenge. “PureNutella” helped himself to the $5,672.72 fifth place prize while “Edgy11” was the tournament’s runner-up, a finish worth $14,319.50.
Full Tilt, sister site of PokerStars, saw a handful of top results had by players from the UK & Ireland. The best of them was by “Malakastyle,” who won the Sunday Major for $12,090.00 before finishing sixth in the Turbo Multi-Hundo for $662.50.
Joining Malakastyle at the final table of the Sunday Major were fellow Brits “jonwayne69” and “S1THL0RD” who bust in fourth and ninth place for scores of $4,800.00 and $1,230.00.
A mention also to Ireland’s Patrick “Patrick J_16” Canavan who eliminated eight players on his way to a seventh-place finish in The T-Rex.
