Dublin Gears Up For the All Ireland Poker Championships

  • The inaugural All Ireland Poker Championships run from January 14-17 at the Regency Hotel, Dublin.

Players from across Ireland are set to descend on the Regency Hotel in Dublin from January 14 through to January 17 for the inaugural All Ireland Poker Championships.

Kicking off the festival, and running throughout, is the 4 Day Cash Game, which offers all levels of cash game action, including a private high roller room. The festival’s organisor has informed UK & Ireland PokerNews that 888poker Ambassador Sofia Lovgren is to be in attendance throughout the festival and will take part in the cash games, too.

The first tournament of the weekend sees action get underway at 4:00 pm on January 16 when the €250 buy-in All Ireland Individuals and Team Poker Championships begin. This two-day event sees players start with 25,000 tournament chips and play to 30-minute blinds as per the 888Live structure that’s been so well received.

Anyone entering the Individual event can choose to represent one of 32 counties and then earn points depending on their finishing position. With bragging rights and medals on the line, action is expected to be fierce and the famous Irish craic there for all to witness.

Complementing the cash game and main event are a trio of other championship tournaments.

Both the All Ireland Ladies Poker Championships and the All Ireland Student Championships start on the route to crowning their champions at 12:00 pm on January 17, with the eagerly anticipated All Ireland Omaha Poker Championships commencing at 2:00 pm on Janaury 17. All three tournaments see players sit down with 25,000 chips and then play to a 30-minute clock.

In order to compete in any of the All Ireland Poker Championships, players must hold Irish passports or prove residency in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland

Miss Earth Slovenia 2014, Patricia Peklar is in attendance for the festival and will be entering the Ladies event as a special guest. Also on site are the Hands On Deck Massage team.
