UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Sergio Aido Returns to Top 20

Sergio Aido
  • Sergio Aido returns to the top 20 of the UK online poker rankings while Daniel Tighe enters the Irish top 10.

  • Andy "wiisssppppaa" Taylor climbs to second in the UK online poker rankings.

  • Another five-figure score for Stephen "woody1234321" Woodhead.

When updates its online poker rankings this week it left the top 20 of the United Kingdom relatively unchanged. Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer still leads the way, and by a significant margin, but the leader board has two new entries on it.

Sixteenth place is now occupied by the talented Spaniard Sergio “zcedrick” Aido. The former UKIPT London Main Event champion won the $109 +R NL Hold’em for $9,400 and two days later finished as runner-up in the same tournament for $7,718. Aido then finished third in the $109 NL Hold’em Turbo Sunday Edition for $9,196 on the same night he won the $27 NL Hold’em Turbo Knockout for $4,386, all at PokerStars.

This impressive run of form has Aido up to 133rd in the world standings, some way behind his career-best of 43rd.

The other new face used to be a constant fixture in the UK top 20. “carpdiem200” returns to the limelight in 19th place following a string of impressive results. The highlight of the unknown player’s recent run include wins in the 888poker Sunday Lightning 6-Max for $6,003 and the PokerStars $320 NL Hold’em 6-Max for $5,850, plus a fourth place finish in the partypoker $100,000 High Roller.

Two other Brits helped themselves to five-figure scores this week, namely Stephen “woody1234321” Woodhead and Paul “Fold Machiii” Dando.

Woodhead’s score weighed in at $10,710, which was his reward for finishing in third place in the $215 NL Hold’em Turbo Sunday Edition at PokerStars, with Dando’s third place finish in the 888poker $150,000 Mega Deep earning him $15,345.

Tighe’s $48K Score Pushes Him Into Irish Top 10

It was a relatively quiet week at the virtual felt for the boys and girls in green, although Daniel “danielt99” Tighe now finds himself in the Irish top 10 thanks to his fifth place finish in the PokerStars Sunday Million.

Tighe may have missed out on a six-figure score by finishing in fifth place, but he still walked away $48,416 for his amazing run. The grinder from Leitrim now finds himself in 10th place in the Irish standings and 446th in the world, only 21 places away from his highest-ever world ranking.

Ireland-based Lithuanian Tomas “luckymo32” Geleziunas is up to fourth place in Ireland after a win in the Nigh on Stars bagged him $4,980 and his victory in the PokerStars $22 NL Hold’em 1R1A locked up $2,907.

Also in the winner’s circle were Michael “BIGMICKG” Graydon who won the partypoker Counterpunch for $1,804, Frank “Denman98” Lillis who won the PokerStars $11+R NL Hold’em for $3,600 and “myleftfoot” who won both the 888poker Super Stack $5K Guarantee for $1,515 and the PokerStars $11+R NL Hold’em for $1,838.

A special mention to Andrew “ULDuffer” Sweeney who narrowly missed out on a five-figure score when he won $9,538 for his runner-up finish in the PokerStars $530 Monday PL Omaha 6-Max event.
