Sunday Briefing: Daniel Tighe Reaches Sunday Million Final Table

  • Ireland's Daniel Tighe finishes fifth in the Sunday Million for a career-best score of $48,416.00.

  • GaryT20 of Ireland wins the Daily Double #2 for $40,288.89.

  • Tom "hitthehole" Middleton's Bigger $162 ends with a third place finish worth $17,370.75.

Once again the final table of the PokerStars Sunday Million had one of our players seated at it, although Daniel “DanielT999” Tighe couldn’t quite close it out this time around.

Tighe was one of 5,696 entrants in the $1 million guaranteed and he managed to outlast almost all of those players. Tighe finally fell in fifth place and secured a $48,416.00 payout, which happens to be the largest cash of his online career so far.

Another Irishman enjoyed a big score at PokerStars on Sunday thanks to winning the $55 Daily Double #2. “GaryT20” finished on top of 5,135 opponents and can now brag of a $40,288.89 score, while Brits “BluntFace88” and “TheFresKeR” finished fourth and eighth for $14,509.20 and $3,210.00.

Andy “wiisssppppaa” Taylor won $6,088.31 by finishing in fifth place in the Hotter $82, while five other British grinders collected five-figure score:

  • Damien “DamoWain” Wain finished fourth in the Sunday Kickoff for $11,558.85
  • DuTTiFruTTi9” finished sixth in the Sunday Warm-Up for $17,138.00
  • jpous” finished third in the Hotter $162 for $11,977.87
  • Tom “hitthehole” Middleton finished third in the Bigger $162 for $17,370.75
  • ShootTheSky” finished fourth in the Sunday 2nd Chance for $14,123.00

At PokerStars’ sister site, Full Tilt, “losttotheriver” walked away with the $13,545.45 first place prize in the Sunday Major. They were joined on the final table by four players who call the United Kingdom home: “jamhoot” finished third for $7,388.43, “JoinMyStack” bust in fifth place for $3,870.13, with Oliver “ollie_p” Price’s tournament ending in a sixth place finish worth $2,955.37. Lastly, “thankusurrr” crashed out in ninth place for $1,407.32.

Two Brits reached the final table of the Sunday Brawl, namely “BipolarHighRola” and Newcastle’s “jambeyang.” The former finished sixth for $1,125.75 (including $150 in bounties), with the latter busting one place earlier for a $1,554.95 score (including $845.32 in bounties).

Lastly for Full Tilt, a mention to Jude “j__thaddeus” Ainsworth who finished as runner-up in the T-Rex for $1,520.97 (including $350.01 in bounties).

This weeks $100,000 Sunday Challenge at 888poker saw “urstupidfish” emerge victorious for a $20,276.34 score with Ireland’s David “daveybabey86” Costello also being in the winners circle after taking down the $150,000 Mega Deep for $24,653.31 after a heads-up deal. The UK’s Paul “xin_bama” Dando finished third for $15,345.00.

The final table of the $50,000 TURBO Mega Deep had two Union Jacks at it, namely “corbl1meyguv” and “CrackdeI29” who fell in eighth and ninth place for $1,536.00 and $1,120.00. CrackdeI29 also finished second in the $40,000 Sunday Monsoon for a $6,575.37 addition to his bankroll.

Completing our Sunday Briefing this week is the fourth place finish in the partypoker $100,000 High Roller by “carpediem400” that banked him $10,246.50.
