UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Dan Carter Hits a Career High

UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings

  • Dan Carter hits another rich vein of form and climbs to a career-high in the worldwide online poker rankings.

  • A new name enters the Irish online poker rankings top 20.

  • Dara O'Kearney's $36K score pushes him up two places in the Irish standings.

A few months ago, July to be exact, Dan Carter went on a tremendous run at the virtual felt that saw him win five tournaments in the space of a week. Fast forward to November and Carter looks to have hit another purple patch.

Carter has started November in scintillating form, and it has resulted in him entering the online poker rankings for the United Kingdom in 20th place. The Cheltenham-born grinder has also climbed to a career-high of 225th in the world standings, too.

At the start of November, Carter won the iPOPS-4H €100,000 Gtd at Betfair Poker for $22,603 and then finished in third place in the 888poker $15,000 Monsoon a couple of days later for $2,111.

Instead of heading to a bonfire on November 5, Carter cashed in four tournaments including another deep run in an iPOPS event, finishing second in iPOPS-9H €25,000 Gtd for $3,939, before winning the partypoker Pokerfest #61 - $15,000 GTd no limit Hold’em 6-Max Deepstack for $7,268.

Scott “Aggro Santos” Margerson is another player returning to the UK top 20 following a string of impressive results. Victories in the Full KO 6-Max ($2,402) and the PokerStars $109 NL Hold’em Turbo ($3,956) were sandwiched between a runner-up finish in the PokerStars Wednesday $320 ($14,877). Margereson now occupies 17th place in the UK standings.

Mentions have to go to Stephen “woody1234321” Woodhead, who continues to impress at the tables, his latest big score weighing in at $15,320, his reward for finishing fourth in the partypoker $150,000 Gtd High Roller.

Also to Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford, who won the PokerStars Sunday Rebuy for $34,000 then finished second in the $109 NL Hold’em Turbo Progressive Super-Knockout the following night for an additional $3,857.

Big Scores for Ainsworth and O’Kearney; New Face in the Top 20

Two of Ireland’s most familiar poker faces enjoyed the sweet taste of success this week and have both improved their online rankings as a result.

Jude “j.thaddeus” Ainsworth has been around almost as long as online poker has and now has more than $6.6 million in online cashes. That impressive total was helped this week by him winning two tournaments and cashing in a dozen more.

Ainsworth’s victories came in the Thursday Full KO 6-Max, which netted him $6,554 and he followed that up three days later by winning the 76th event of the partypoker Pokerfest, the $75,000 Gtd, for $12,791.

Dara “Doke” O’Kearney was the other Irish regular who banked something big this week. O’Kearney chopped the PokerStars Sunday Supersonic for $36,393 before falling in second place.

The player known as “Kersplunk” was another Irishman who secured a five-figure score. After busting in third place in the FCOOP-12 €150 NL Hold’em 6-Max, Kersplunk had a welcomed $16,105 added to his account, which happens to be his third largest cash in the online world.

Wrapping up the rankings update this week is the news of a new name in the Irish top 20, that of “myleftfoot.” According to his profile, this player is based in Lucan, Dublin and has almost $112,500 in cashes. Wins in the Full Tilt Super Stack $5k ($1,748) and the PokerStars $11 NL Hold’em 1R1A ($2,120) have set him up for a Triple Crown, while third place finishes in the Full Tilt Super Stack $3k ($487) and the PokerStars $11 NL Hold’em 1R1A helped bolster his bankroll.
