There is a new players in the United Kingdom’s online poker rankings top 20 after the latest update by, that of Ben “BenFaz” Farrell.

Farrell seems to mostly frequent low-to-mid stakes tournament online and has hit a purple patch of form that has resulted in him climbing to 16th in the UK standings and a career-best 151st in the world.

The Brummie won four tournaments last week, all for big scores. The first saw Farrell walk away with the $12,750 first place prize in the PokerStars $55 Daily Double #1 and two days later he outlasted 31,260 opponents in the Sunday Storm to turn $11 into $29,246. Not content with those results, Farrell went on to win a $27 NL Hold’em 6-Max Hyper Turbo for $2,126 then took down The Hot $82 for an additional $9,619. Amazing results we’re sure you agree.

Chris Moorman won his 304th online tournament this week when he finished on top in the 888poker Tuesday Crocodile for $7,393 while Rick “TheClaimer” Trigg won his 219th tournament when he won the Hot $162 for $6,841.

Special mentions also to “10111420” who collected $14,964 for his fourth place finish in The Bigger $109 and to Phil “philroyal888” Mighall who finished third in the $530 buy-in Monday PLO at PokerStars for $7,800.

Kersplunk Climbs to Third in the Irish Standings

The Irish player known simply as “kersplunk” has climbed to third place in Ireland’s rankings and a career-high of 164th in the world, going some way to prove that you don’t have to play the highest stakes tournament online to be regarded as one of the best players on the planet.

Looking at kersplunk’s profile shows that he plays a phenomenal number of tournaments every day, with the majority of those tournaments’ buy-ins being low stakes. Over the past few days, kersplunk’s won the $22 NL Hold’em 1R1A for $2,554, finished second in the same event the day prior for $1,675 and finished third in the $8.80 1R1A for $1,321 all at PokerStars.

Kersplunk’s fellow Irish man, Jude “j.thaddeus” Ainsworth, is no stranger to high stakes events, but it was his exploits in the mid-stakes games that yielded the most positive results this week. Wins in the Palace €50 for $2,076 and the €50 Full KO 6-Max for $1,118 pushed his lifetime winnings past the $6.625 million mark.
