Four-time world champion boxer Carl Froch joined partypoker as a brand ambassador on November 9, the same date the $100,000 Challenge and a revamped tournament schedule appeared in the online poker site’s lobby.
The Power Series, as it is known, boasts of more than 150 weekly tournaments with combined guaranteed prize pools in excess of $1.6 million. Each of the tournaments is separated into six categories, each keeping with the boxing theme by being named after various boxing weight divisions.
|Category||Buy-in Range||Weekly Tournaments||Total Guaranteed|
|Ticket Brawls||$5.50-$55||10||530 x $109 tickets to be won|
|Tickets||$0.01 and up||Running all day||Satellite into any event|
Each of the Featherweight, Middleweight and Heavyweight categories have at least two marquee tournaments every day, with the $5.50 buy-in $5,000 guaranteed The Jab being the cheapest and the most costly, but with the largest guarantee, being the $109 buy-in $50,000 Uppercut that runs Monday through Saturday.
Until the Power Series’ launch, partypoker’s flagship tournament was the $200 buy-in $150,000 guaranteed that ran every Sunday at 7:00 pm GMT. While it still hosts a $150,000 guaranteed event, on the same day and time, it has dropped the buy-in to a more manageable $109.

Reducing the buy-in seems to have gone down well with the partypoker players judging by 1,742 turning out for the November 15 edition of the $150,000 guaranteed. When the dust settled, “i2out” was the last player standing and won $26,722.43 for his excellent result.
In an attempt to get customers playing in some of the higher buy-in events, partypoker has created what it is calling Ticket Brawls. Ten of these Ticket Brawls run throughout the week and give players the opportunity to win one of 530 x $109 tickets.
From Monday to Saturday, at 17:30 GMT, there is a $22 buy-in Ticket Brawl that awards at least 50 x $109 tickets to The Uppercut, with Main Event Ticket Brawls taking place on Saturday at 18:30 GMT and at three times on Sunday, guaranteeing no less than 230 tickets.
Players can also win $2.20, $5.50, $11, $22, $55 and $109 ticket for as little as $0.01 Tickets tournaments that run around the clock, seven days a week.
