£400,000 Guaranteed 2015 GUKPT Grand Final Main Event Kicks Off Nov.26

Reigning GUKPT Grand Final champion Charlie Carrel

The ninth season of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour concludes this week with the eagerly anticipated Grand Final festival taking place at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London. Several events take place between now and November 29, but none have a lure as strong as the £400,000 guaranteed Main Event that is sure to attract some of the biggest names in British poker.

Mike Ellis won the first-ever GUKPT Grand Final back in 2007 when he topped a field of 198 players to claim the £197,600 first place prize. It was a result that pushed Ellis to the top of the GUKPT all-time money listings, a position he still holds today.

Other winners of the prestigious Grand Final include Paul Foltyn, former Chelsea and Republic of Ireland striker Tony Cascarino, German superstar Fabian Quoss, popular grinder Sam Grafton, and Kevin Allen who staged an epic comeback to win the Season 7 edition.

Charlie Carrel is the reigning GUKPT Grand Final champion having taken down Season 8’s tournament for £108,625. Carrel’s rise to prominence has been nothing short of meteoric and he is widely regarded as one of the best young poker minds in the world.

Since his GUKPT Grand Final victory, which earned him his first six-figure score, Carrel has toured the world playing in some of the biggest and toughest tournaments. A fifth place in the €10,300 High Roller at Season 11 European Poker Tour Malta netted him €183,800 and he secured a seven-figure score when he collected €1,114,000 by winning the €25,500 High Roller at the EPT Grand Final.
