James Cusack

  • James Cusack bags up 250,000 chips on Day 1b of the 2015 Full Tilt IPO Dublin Main Event.

  • Nicholas Newport, Feargal Nealon and Michael Graydon progress to Day 2

  • Two more starting flights remain in the 2015 IPO Dublin Main Event.

The 2015 Full Tilt International Poker Open (IPO) Dublin Main Event continued on Thursday afternoon when 224 players headed to the Regency Airport Hotel for the second of three starting flights in the $250 buy-in tournament.

Upon the completion of 13 levels, all but 63 players had bust and James Cusack claimed the Day 1b chip lead.

Cusack doesn’t have an entry on the Hendon Mob Database but that could all be set to change thanks to him ending Day 1b in fine form, bagging up 250,000 chips. This mammoth-sized stack earned him the overnight chip lead for his flight and places him fourth overall with two more Day 1’s to come.

Four other Day 1b players finished the night with stack worth more than 200,000. John Fitzgerald finished 23rd in this event in 2014 and now he has a legitimate chance of a repeat performance thanks to ending his starting flight with 238,200 chips.

Philip Roevens’ 229,100 stack should see him in good stead, while Sean McCarthy, who won a €100+€10 side event at the IPO Killarney in September 2015, ended the night with 216,200 chips at his disposal.

Players such as Nicholas “YerSoLucky” Newport (130,000), Dublin Poker Invasion Omaha champion John Keown (91,000), Val Zan (89,800), Feargal Nealon (81,000), and Michael “BIGMICKG” Graydon (58,900) all progressed to Day 2, although the likes of Peter Wigglesworth, Alex Tikhoniouk, Patrick Clarke, and David O’Kelly will have to re-enter on Friday’s Day 1c if they want to take any further part in the Main Event.

Day 1c kicks off at 2:00pm on Friday 23 October with the fourth and final flight commencing at the earlier time of 12:00pm on Saturday 24 October. Each day is expected to be busier than the one before so the organisers could be looking at a 1,000-strong field if the current trend continues.
