  • Less than 100 points separate Patrick Leonard and Billy Chattaway in the UK online poker rankings

  • Billy Chattaway and Phil Mighall climb to career highs in the worldwide rankings

  • Ireland's Conor O'Driscoll hits a purple patch and continues to climb

Both Patrick Leonard and Billy Chattaway have enjoyed a hugely successful World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) so far and it shows in the updated online poker rankings for the United Kingdom.

Leonard is still at the top of the tree in the UK where he has 6,230.04 points, and has improved his worldwide ranking to 13th. A fifth place in WCOOP-40 saw Leonard collect $21,600 and come close to winning his second WCOOP bracelet of 2015, and he put together deep runs in events 42 and 45 where he finished 14th and 17th.

Coming too late to be added to Leonard’s points tally this week was his third place finish in the 888poker $100,000 Volcano that netted the talented pro $17,557.

Less than 100 points behind Leonard you find Billy Chattaway who has been in the headlines throughout 2015. After banking $263,500 a couple of weeks ago by finishing fourth in WCOOP event 25, Chattaway bust in third place in the Bigger $162 for $24,260, won a $51 NL Hold’em Hyper Turbo for $6,666 and then fell short of a COOP triple when he bust in second place in WCOOP event 55 for $23,992, all at PokerStars.

Chattaway now finds himself occupying 17th place in the world rankings, his highest ever position.

Also reaching new heights in the worldwide standings is Phil “philroyal888” Mighall who climbed to 95th in the world this week and entered the UK’s top 10. A second place finish in the WCOOP 2nd Chance for Event 42 saw Mighall win $22,003. He then went on to finish 10th in WCOOP event 50 for $3,543, won the $215 NL Hold’em Turbo for $6,486 and cashed in the Super Tuesday for an additional $6,584.

Shout outs to Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer who added $14,960 to his lifetime winnings thanks to a fourth place finish in WCOOP Event 56’s second chance, to Oscar “MendaLerenda” Serradell who won the Bigger $162 for $43,129, to Rick “TheClaimer” Trigg who enjoyed two five-figure scores this week and to Ben “jenbizzle” Jones whose third place in the Bigger $55 was worth $14,591.

Conor O’Driscoll Knocking on the Door of the Irish Top Five

The top five ranked players in Ireland remain unchanged with Spain’s Sergio “EV4dGloryOMC” Garcia sill way out in front and seemingly uncatchable as 2015 rapidly draws to a close. Garcia put more distance between himself and second placed Dan “NukeTheFish!” Wilson this week by finishing fifth in the PokerStars Bigger $109 for $13,563 and 212.60 leaderboard points.

Tomas “luckymo32” Geleziunas, Cathal “shinerrr” Shine and Kevin “SuitedAcesBaby” Killeen make up the top five, but one of them could drop out soon because Conor “ccoonnoorr” O’Driscoll continues to put in some superb results and is now within touching distance of the leading pack.

O’Driscoll enjoyed a mini purple patch earlier this week when he secured four four-figure payouts over three days. The man from Limerick came fourth in the $22 NL Hold’em for $1,895 at PokerStars, finished second in the 888poker $30,000 Sunday Breeze for $5,017 and then returned to PokerStars to finish as runner-up in The Big $8.80 for $4,317 before winning the Big €100 at for $2,038.

A doff of the cap goes to the aforementioned Kevin Killeen who also enjoyed four four-figure scores this week, including a $3,473 addition to his bankroll for his 10th place finish in The Weekender at PokerStars, to Frank “Denman98” Lillis who won the Storm for $3,657 and then finished second in The Big €50 for $1,438 and to Dara “Doke” O’Kearney who was the runner-up in the PokerStars Nightly $162 for $5,185.
