UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Dan Charlton Is Flying High

Daniel Charlton
  • Rupert Elder returns to the UK top 10

  • Two large four-figure scores see Jonathan Gill climb to 20th in the UK standings

  • Tomas Geleziunas continues to impress, he's now third in the Irish rankings

Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer is still ranked first in the United Kingdom for online poker tournaments by and the next five players in the chasing pack remain the same, but there has been something of a reshuffle of the remainder of the top 20.

Brighton’s Phil “philroyal888” Mighall seems to have at least one big score to brag about each week and this past week was no different because he won the PokerStars $320 NL Hold’em 6-Max for $9,750. That result added 193.65 leader board points to his tally, enough to push him up to seventh place in the UK and a career-high 84th in the world.

Daniel “judgedredd13” Charlton is also occupying a career high spot in both the UK and worldwide standings. A win in the $82 NL Hold’em 4-Max Turbo for $2,490 and runner-up finish in Sunday’s Bigger $109 for $35,220 – both at PokerStars – have aided Charlton’s climb to 11th in the UK and 116th in the world. We’d be willing to bet good money that a top 100 place is Charlton’s before the World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) is completed.

A third place finish in the PokerStars Bigger $75 for $13,501 saw Rupert “ElRupert” Elder break into the UK top 10 for the first time in several months, while Jonathan “Gil3000” Gill’s brace of big scores, namely the $7,188 he received for finishing fourth in the Big $55 and the $7,819 won for his runner-up finish in the Hot $44 at PokerStars, have seen him return to the UK top 20.

Next week’s leader board should see Rick “TheClaimer” Trigg climb higher than his current eighth place because he was the runner-up in the 888poker $100,000 Volcano on Tuesday for $26,216 but the result came too late for it to be included in this week’s update.

Conor “ccoonnoorr” O’Driscoll Up to Eighth in Ireland

It was a quiet week for the grinders calling the Emerald Isle home although there were a few solid results had by some of the players.

Limerick’s Conor “ccoonnoorr” O’Driscoll may frequent tournaments at the lower end of the buy-in spectrum but that’s not stopped him from climbing to eighth in the Irish online poker rankings. Outright wins in the $11 NL Hold’em 1R1A for $2,637 and the $8.80 NL Hold’em 6-Max Turbo for $859 and a handful of final table appearances saw O’Driscoll climb a couple of places this week.

Narrowing the gap between himself and second placed Dan “NukeTheFish!” Wilson was Tomas “luckymo32” Geleziunas. The Ireland-based Lithuanian is renowned for playing huge volume and has had more than 40 cashes in the past seven days alone.

Geleziunas’ best results this week include wins in the PokerStars $5.50 NL Hold’em rebuy for $2,238, a win in the PokerStars $54 NL Hold’em Knockout for $3,209 and a 24th place finish in the WCOOP Event 5, a $215 NL Hold’em rebuy for $4,425.
