There was an eclectic mix of nationalities among the 74 players who chose Day 1b to start their Redbet LIVE Dublin Main Event quest with the large number of Irish nationals battling it out with Polish, Swedish, English, Spanish, Belgian and Finnish grinders.

As mentioned, it was Poland’s Siedlecki who finished on top of the counts and he’ll now be quietly confident of securing what would be his second live cash, the first coming from his 72nd place finish in the Redbet LIVE Rozvadov Main Event in April 2015.

Sweden’s Axel Pihl ended the night second of 35 in chips with the best performing Irishman being Declan Barker in third place with 197,400 chips. Barker put together a deep run in the 2014 UKIPT Dublin Main Event, eventually falling in 10th place and he’ll be looking to go at least one spot deeper in this tournament.

After finishing fourth in the MPN Poker Tour Dublin Main Event for €17,520, Val Zan is riding the wave of positive variance and was sat with 157,200 chips at the end of Day 1b, enough to secure ninth place on the leaderboard, while the 2011 European Deepstack champion, Gerrard Harraghy, sees his name in the top 10 courtesy of his 145,200 chips.

Day 1c, the final starting flight, kicks off at 2:00pm on Saturday afternoon and should be by far the largest of the opening days. €315+€35 gets you a shot at the title, while there’s also a €50+€50+€20 bounty hunter tournament kicking off at 8:00pm if that’s your thing.
