McCloskey is something of a legend in Irish poker circles one who has done wonders for raising the profile of poker in Ireland over the years. He’s also no slouch at the felt either, with almost $500,000 in live tournament winnings including one score for $70,600 that he picked up for his sixth place finish in the $5,000 buy-in Ongame Network Poker Classic in Barcelona during 2006.

Colm Hanlon is another familiar face on the Irish poker scene and one who already has a hat trick of victories, including one for €6,450 when he won the BoyleSports Poker One Day Classic in April 2015, two months after taking down the 888Live Local Series at Club Poker Rathmines for €7,200.

Swedish pro, Emma Wikberg (134,400) added some glamour to the Day 1c field and progressed to Day 2 with a top 10 stack, while both Andrew Leathem (115,900) and David O’Kelly (113,000) who reached the final table of the Mega Poker Series Dublin Main Event this week that Fintan Gavin won, are both safely through.

Also doing their chances of winning some Euros no harm at all are the likes of Dara “Doke” O’Kearney (83,800), John “gruiaggorm” Daly (63,600), and Nicholas “YerSoLucky” Newport (45,600).

Day 2 kicks off at midday on Sunday and the plan is to continuing playing until the nine-handed final table is set. This means the money bubble is guaranteed to burst so return to UK & Ireland PokerNews on Monday to discover which unfortunate soul burst that bubble and which nine players make up the final table of the Redbet LIVE Dublin Main Event.
