UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Sam Grafton Continues to Climb

Sam Grafton
  • Sam Grafton closing in on a UK online poker rankings top 10 spot.

  • Daragh Davey returns to the Irish top five.

  • Only 20 points separate third through sixth in the UK standings.

Popular grinder Sam Grafton continues to put in the hours at the virtual felt and is marching up the online poker rankings as a result.

Grafton avoided the 2015 World Series of Poker (WSOP), instead preferring to put in some extra volume in the online poker world and it looks to be a solid decision on his part. This week, Grafton climbs to 13th in the United Kingdom’s rankings and re-enters the worldwide top 100. While Gratfon is still some way off his career-high of 40 in the world, set in 2013, he should have no problem in reaching those dizzy heights if he continues in the same rich vein of form he currently finds himself in.

Another player swerving the WSOP is Charlie Combes who has risen to 16th place in the UK standings. The former world number six won the $22 NL Hold’em 1R1A at PokerStars for $3,522 and the $27 NL Hold’em 6-Max Hyper Turbo for $3,507 this week.

The top of the UK table is tighter than it has ever been with only 22 points separating Rick Trigg in third place and Billy Chattaway in sixth so we expect plenty of shuffling of the UK’s elite players in the next few weeks as they return from their WSOP escapades and return to the relative normality of the online poker world.

Daragh Davey Returns to the Irish Top Five

Daragh Davey is back in Ireland’s top five ranked players and is within touching distance of Kevin Killeen in fourth spot thanks in part to his $16,801 score he collected after finishing in third place in the PokerStars Bigger $162.

Davey has more than 40 cashes over the past four days and if he continues to put in the volume he is currently, a top three spot surely beckons.

Spain’s Sergio Garcia is still at the top of the Irish leader board and has also climbed to a career-high 82nd in the world rankings. Garcia’s largest score of the past seven days weighs in at $4,138 which is his reward for a runner-up finish in the $33 NL Hold’em turbo at PokerStars.

Also in decent form are Frank “Denman98” Lillis and Dan “NukeTheFish!” Wilson.

Davey has more than 40 cashes over the past four days and if he continues to put in the volume he is currently, a top three spot surely beckons.

Lillis helped himself to a brace of victories this week, winning the $8.80 NL Hold’em 6-Max Turbo for $1,220 at PokerStars and the Hot €30 at for $1,873.

Wilson meanwhile finished third in the Night on Stars for $2,139 then won the PokerStars $9.90 NL Hold’em for $788 and was the runner-up in the PokerStars $109 rebuy NL Hold’em for $5,643.
