UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Moorman Reclaims Top Spot

Chris Moorman

  • Chris Moorman back on top of the UK's online poker rankings

  • Ireland Daniel Wilson hits top form

With London-based Italian, Mustapha Kanit, removing himself from the online poker rankings, Chris “moorman1” Moorman returns to the number one spot in the United Kingdom. Moorman seems to have hit the tables with renewed vigour since his recent wedding and, as you’d expect from such a talented poker player, the results have been flowing in.

Forty-three in-the-money finishes over the past week, including nine final table appearances and one victory have helped put a small cushion of points between Moorman and second placed, Oscar “MendaLerenda” Serradell. Moorman’s victory came in a $109 NL Hold’em Turbo at PokerStars worth $3,333 and was the 294th of his illustrious career so far.

The aforementioned Serradell won two tournaments this past week, one at PokerStars and the other at 888poker. The Spanish grinder’s 888poker win came in the $15,000 Crocodile and netted him $4,727 while him taking down the $109 NL Hold’em Rebuy at PokerStars saw him add $11,730 to his lifetime winnings.

Climbing from seventh place to third this week is Patrick “pleno1” Leonard. The Hungary-based Brit finished third in the Thursday Thrill ($23,153) and third in the $82 NL Omaha Hi/Low 6-Max Hyper ($658) both at PokerStars, before winning this week’s Sunday Brawl at Full Tilt ($18,524).

Joining the unofficial “I won a $109 buy-in tournament at PokerStars” club this week was fourth-placed Rick “TheClaimer” Trigg. The popular Sheffield grinder won the $7,500 guaranteed $109 NL Hold’em for $2,810 a couple of days ago. Trigg also finished third in a $27 NL Hold’em 6-Max Hyper for $3,028 and took down The Big $8.80 for $4,728.

Plenty of changes to the Irish rankings

This week has seen a number of changes to the top 20 of the Irish online poker rankings, thanks in part to two players from Port Laoise reactivating their PocketFives accounts.

The first of this duo, David “Laois Hammer” Scully, comes straight back in at number eight in Ireland and 351st in the world – only 37 places from his previous career-high. Scully has been putting in some decent volume at Titanbet Poker and partypoker and has managed to win the €5,000 GTd Big at the former for $1,623 and the €1,500 Guaranteed for $609. Scully also binked The Hot €30 at for $1,681.

Former Irish number one, Gavin “gavonator” O’Rourke has also reappeared in the top 20, returning to 18th in Ireland and 656th in the world. O’Rourke, who was ranked 82nd in the world in 2014, doesn’t put as much volume in as those around him in the leader board, but still manages to help himself to some decent results.

Way out in front is Sergio “EV4dGloryOMC” Garcia. The Spanish pro has more than 1,500 points between him and second place and is showing no signs at all of slowing down. Garcia is almost nailed on to be number one in Ireland until the end of 2015 and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him mount a charge for the worldwide top 10.

Up to second place in Ireland this week is Dan “NukeTheFish!” Wilson. Last week, Wilson won three tournaments at PokerStars for combined scores of $11,534 and this week finished third in The Big $55 ($7,201), seventh in The Big $162 ($2,135), and 11th in The Hotter $75 ($1,015). Wilson also had another brace of third place finishes, worth $3,540, but these came too late to add to his ranking score.
