2015 World Series of Poker: UK & Ireland's Story So Far
Twenty-eight events from the scheduled 68 that make up the 2015 World Series of Poker (WSOP) are completed, meaning we’re almost at the halfway stage of this year’s festival.
It has been quite a successful WSOP for players from the UK and Ireland up to this point and had Lady Luck shone down on our players a little more at the crucial stages of some of the completed events, we would certainly have won more than a solitary gold bracelet.
As this article is being typed, UK & Ireland players have reached the money an impressive 118 times. Their average cash is $18,148.74 taking the total money won to $2,141.551. By the time Tuesday is over, there will be at least another three in-the-money finishes as James Rann and Jonathan McCaan are through to the final 29 players in the Monster Stack, and Chris Moorman is 3/21 in the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em event.
We had to wait until Event #4@ $3,000 No Limit Hold’em Shootout for thhe first Union Jack to appear in the results, that honour going to Phillip McAllister who finished 31st for $6,180. WSOP bracelet winner, Craig McCorkell also cashed in that event, busting in 21st place for $6,180.
Twenty-seven of our players reached the money place in the record-breaking Colossus with Laura Cerisola going the deepest, her run ending in 66th place for $14,330.00.
Cerisola’s five-figure score remained the largest so far only until the Event #6: $1,000 Hyper Hold’em where Ireland’s Marc MacDonnell fell at the final hurdle and finished as runner-up, a finish worth an impressive $155,876. MacDonnell was the first of our army of players to reach a 2015 WSOP final table, an honour also bestowed on 11 other players to date.
