UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Moorman Returns to UK No.1 Spot

Chris Moorman

Chris “Moorman1” Moorman has returned to his rightful place at the summit of the United Kingdom’s online poker rankings following a string of fantastic results.

Moorman, who earlier this year we predicted would reclaim the world number one spot, soared back up the rankings on the back of winning the PokerStars Sunday 500 for $87,400 and securing a record 25th PocketFives Triple Crown.

The former World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic champion is in scintillating form right now and seems back to his unstoppable best. Since that Triple Crown and Sunday 500 victory, Moorman has won another two PokerStars events, taking down the $109 NL Hold’em Turbo ($6,260) and the $215 NL Hold’em Turbo Re-Entry ($7,222).

Second placed Patrick “pleno1” Leonard now trails Moorman by more than 260 points and has Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson breathing down his neck in third place, a mere 32 points behind.

Also climbing this week is Billy “BillyChat” Chattaway who now occupies seventh place in the UK and 58th in the world rankings. Chattaway took his lifetime winnings past the $2.5 million barrier this week when he won the $1,050 NL Hold’em 3-Stack SCOOP event for a career-best score of $111,132.

The PokerStars SCOOP has also been kind to Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford who collected a $31,104 score after finishing second in the $215 NL Hold’em 6-Max Shootout before finishing as runner-up in The Bigger $75 for $18,084.

Rick “TheClaimeer” Trigg banked a $31,75 score thanks to his fifth place finish in the SCOOP event at Chattaway took down, while Stephen “woody1234321” Woodhead scooped $159,355 when he finished in fourth place in the $2,100 NL Hold’em SCOOP-24 event.

A doff of the cap goes to Jonathan “Gil3000” Gill who continues to improve week-on-week and a few nights ago was the runner-up in the Big $109 at PokerStars for more than $23,000.

Andrew Sweeney Climbs to Fifth in Ireland

It is Spain’s Sergio “EV4dGloryOMC” Garcia who is still the man to catch in the Irish standings and he now has a 500 point gap between him and his nearest rival. Last week that second place spot was occupied by Jude “j.thaddeus” Ainsworth but thanks to wins in the Betfair Poker €5,000 Gtd Big and the €7,500 Gtd Masters, Cathal “shinerrr” Shine is now in the bridesmaid position.

Fifth place now belongs to Andrew “UlDuffer” Sweeney who has been in great form for a number of weeks now. The man from Tipperary had been banging on the door of a big win and that came on Sunday when he finished in second place in the SCOOP special edition of the Sunday Million, a finish that netted him a massive $175,025.

Sweeney has climbed to 262nd place in the world as a result of that huge score, a career-high for him.

Another trio of Irishmen have improved on last week’s positions, namely “Rowniwn,” Marc “Sluglife” MacDonnell and Karl “chips12345” Curry.

Rowniwn took down the Big $109 for $30,961 while MacDonnell has been bus smashing up the French-facing including winning the Sunday 6-Max at for almost $10,000 and Curry jumped to 15th place in Ireland thanks to collected $9,419 for his third place finish in The Hot $55
