UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Middleton Returns to the Top 20

Tom Middleton

Whenever there’s a major online poker festival, there is chance for the UK & Ireland Poker Rankings to be given a major shuffle thanks to the massive prize pools that are created. Now that the 2015 Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) is here, we expect the current top 20 of the UK & Ireland top look completely different by the time it concludes and it’s awarded it $40 million in guarantees.

Although he’s yet to cash in this year’s SCOOP, the former European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona winner Tom “hitthehole” Middleton looks to be playing more tournaments and when top players start grinding online, it usually results in decent scores.

On Monday night, Middleton finished second in the $320 NL Hold’em 6-Max for $9,264 and third in the $215 NL Hold’em Turbo for $7,876 at PokerStars. Both those results, when added to his 12th place in the Full Tilt Sunday Major, resulted in Middleton climbing back into the top 20 of the rankings and he now occupies 18th place.

One player who does have a massive SCOOP score is Jack “JAM89” McDermott who added a massive $191,284 to his bankroll when he finished third in the $2,100 buy-in NL Hold’em event at the start of this week. The 24-year old flew up the rankings on the back of this tremendous result and isn’t far away from returning to the worldwide top 200.

A couple of other players in the UK’s top 20 helped themselves to five-figure scores this week. Former world number one, Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer banked $32292 for finishing as runner-up in Sunday’s Bigger $162 at PokerStars and Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson collected $13,240 for his third place finish in the $265 NL Hold’em Knockout, also at PokerStars.

Daniel “danielt999” Tighe Climbs to Eighth in Ireland

Daniel “danielt999” Tighe is back in Ireland’s top 10 following a string of impressive results at PokerStars. Tighe has been knocking on the door of a big win for the past couple of weeks and, like London buses, two came at once in the past seven days.

Tighe won the $109 NL Hold’em Turbo for $5,902 and followed that up with a win in the $215 NL Hold’em Turbo a couple of days later for $7,310. As a result of the points earned for these wins at PokerStars, Tighe soars up the rankings.

The biggest score had by an Irishman this weekend was Kevin “SuitedAcesBaby” Killeen who walked away with exactly $22,000 after finishing eighth in the $1050 NL Hold’em Turbo SCOOP event at PokerStars.

Daniel “NukeTheFish” Wilson will be delighted with his sixth place finish in the $1,050 Thursday Thrill, not least because it awarded $11,496, while Dino “dinos622” Sabatini came close to a five-figure score of his own, winning $9,320 by finished in second place on one of the popular Nightly Forty Grand tournaments.
