Inaugural Genting Poker Series Mini Begins May 13

2015 Genting Poker Series

As we said goodbye to 2014 and welcomed 2015, the management team of the Genting Poker Series (GPS) unveiled a number of changes to its tour in an attempt to “inject fun back into poker.” One such change was the addition of GPS Mini events to its schedule, the first of which kicks off next week in Reading.

When UK & Ireland PokerNews spoke to the poker operations manager of Genting, Kevin Proctor, we were told the reasoning behind these new mini GPS events.

“We have a number of Genting-owned venues that run successful weekly events running and typically operate with 10-12 tables, but they have no capability to add additional capacity and therefore cannot hold a full GPS leg. Therefore, in order to widen the GPS family and bring more events to players as part of our commitment to grassroots players we looked at ways we could host a higher entry single tournament event in these card rooms and bring the GPS to these players.”

The inaugural GPS Mini takes place between May 13 and May 17 at the Genting Club Reading and should be a good litmus test for their popularity. As with most GPS events, Day 1a of the Main Event takes place online at Genting Poker, with subsequent start days being held in a live environment.

This GPS Mini, and all future Minis, costs £200+£20 to enter, and for that sum players receive 25,000 chips, play to a blind structure that increases every 40-minutes (16-minutes online) and get to compete for a £30,000 guaranteed prize pool.
