European Poker Tour Returns to Dublin During Season 12

EPT Dublin

Season 11 of the European Poker Tour (EPT) comes to a thrilling conclusion in a few days times when the Grand Final concludes, and PokerStars has refused to rest on its laurels because the six stops for Season 12 were announced on Monday afternoon.

Kicking off Season 12 is the Barcelona festival that runs from August 19-30. Barcelona has been a constant fixture on the EPT since the inaugural season and has since grown into one of the biggest poker festivals in the world thanks to it joining forces with the Estrellas Poker Tour.

It is remembered fondly by UK & Ireland PokerNews thanks to Tom Middleton winning the Season 10 EPT Barcelona Main Event for €942,000.

There’s a month-long break between Barcelona and a return to Malta on October 21-31. Malta made its debut on the EPT circuit during Season 11 and was well-received by everyone who took part in the plethora of events. Moving the Maltese stop to October should see much better weather than seen in March 2015, and that is never a bad thing.

Another regular stop on the EPT is Prague in the Czech Republic. Once again, this leg is scheduled in December when the snow often falls and creates picturesque surroundings that are the perfect backdrop to drink mulled wine to!

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure kicks off 2016 in style, but it is the stop scheduled for February 10-20 that has grabbed everyone’s attention; these are the date the EPT returns to Dublin, Ireland.

Dublin was a permanent fixture on the EPT from Season 1 through to its fourth season. Ram “Crazy Horse” Vaswani won the first EPT Dublin Main Event, collecting €93,000 after outlasting 163 opponents.

The second edition of the EPT Dublin Main Event grew to 248 runners and it was Sweden’s Mats Gavatin who claimed the €317,000 first place prize. The UK’s Roland de Wolfe won the third EPT Dublin Main Event for €554,300 while American Reuben Peters collected €532,620 for his victory during Season 4, the last time the EPT headed to the Emerald Isle.

Rounding out Season 12 is the Grand Final in Monaco between April 26 and May 6.
