UK & Ireland Online Rankings: Leonard Back on Top; Charlton Hits Career-High

Patrick Leonard

There have been a number of changes to the UK & Ireland Poker Rankings this week as players upped their volume and logged some superb results.

The UK standings have a new number one in Patrick “pleno1” Leonard. Formerly a world number one, Leonard ousted Oscar “MendaLerenda” Serradell from the top spot following string of runner-up finishes that rivalled Simon Deadman’s bridesmaid impression.

Leonard busted in second place in the PokerStars Hot $44 ($6,170), $109 NL Hold’em Rebuy ($6,976) and the $530 Monday PLO 6-Max ($12,513) and also in the Sunday 6-Max ($6,611) to soar back to the top of the UK standings while putting almosyy 250 points between him and his nearest rival.

Another player moving in the right direction is Dan “judgedredd13” Charlton, who now occupies 19th place on the UK leader board and a career-high of 177th in the world. The two-time Super Tuesday champion won the Hot $109 at PokerStars on April 7 and followed that up with a deep run in the Sunday Million (66th for $1,863) and a win in the $109 NL Hold’em ($5,399).

Shout outs have to go to Andy “andyh26” Holman who won the PokerStars $215 NL Hold’em Turbo for $9,980 this week, to the legend that is Chris “moorman1” Moorman who binked the $320 NL Hold’em 6-max at PokerStars for $14,214, to Stephen “woody1234321” Woodhead who climbed into the top 10 this week and to Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer who added $15,736 to his lifetime winnings by taking down the $265 NL Hold’em Knockout at PokerStars.

Kevin Killeen Climbs to the Irish Number One Spot

Ireland also has a new number one after Kevin “SuitedAcesBaby” Killeen leadpfrogged above Jude “j.thaddeus” Ainsworth. While there were no big scores for Killeen to brag about, his recent results are stronger than those of Ainsworth so he fared better when the older scores decayed.

That said, Killeen only tops the chart by 10.06 points so it really is anyone’s game up there.

Flying up to third place this week is Cathal “shinerrr” Shine thanks in part to his impressive win in the partypoker $150,000 Guaranteed Pokerfest High Roller. Shine collected more than $32,500 for that finish and 424.95 PocketFives points, too. Throw into the mix a cash in the 888poker Whale and a 12th and sixth place in the PokerStars Hot $75 and it’s easy to see why the Kerry grinder is marching up the standings.

Andrew “UlDuffer” Sweeney now finds himself on eighth place in Ireland and 546th in the world, the latter being one place lower than his previous best. Sweeney has been helping himself to some decent prizes of late, particularly at Full Tilt where a third place in the Sunday Major and a runner-up finish in the Monday Mayhem bagged him around $23,000.

One man who is sure to climb next week is Dara “Doke” O’Kearney. The long-distance runner put together a deep run in the Super Tuesday this week, finishing 12th for $7,636 but the 183.47 leader board points he collected are yet to be added to his tally.
