Sunday Briefing: Ireland’s TheKhopMan Final Tables Sunday Million

Sunday Million

Ireland’s “TheKhopMan” may not be the best known poker player in the world, but that doesn’t stop him from accumulating some impressive scores at the virtual felt.

In 2013, during the World Championship Of Online Poker at PokerStars, TheKhopMan navigated his way through the vast majority of the 8,313 entrants in the special edition of the Sunday Million before falling in fourth place, but not before being part of a five-way deal that netted him $122,348.99.

TheKhopMan added another Sunday Million final table to his CV on April 19, 2015, finishing in sixth place for $41,843.20. A top drawer result and we’ll do some digging over the next couple of days to see if we can unearth who the mystery Irishman is.

The biggest score had by someone from the UK or Ireland was that of “OtB_RedBaron” who walked away with the top honours in the Sunday Warm-Up, namely $89,208.80. However, we have it on good authority that this player is actually a UK-based Belgian so we can’t really claim bragging rights for his victory, likewise the $11,977.20 that reigning World Series of Poker Main Event champion Martin “ItalianCrusher” Jacobson collected for his third place finish in the Full Tilt Super Sized Sunday can’t really be ours either, yet it’s still worth mentioning.

A double result from an actual Brit is also worth mention, the brace of scores for Andy “wiisssppppaaaaa” Taylor. The Burnley fan busted in third place in Full Tilt’s Sunday brawl for $13,726.06 (Sebastian “thereal_bandito” Saffari came sixth in the same tournament for $5,354.60) and sixth in the PokerStars Sunday Kickoff for $5,686.20. Nice going, sir.

Other top results include:

  • Ali Bang – fourth in the PokerStars Sunday Rebuy for $21,637.50
  • Elliott “elliottpet” Peterman – fifth in the Sunday 500 for $19,807.20
  • BigBang.JR – seventh in the Sunday 2nd Chance for $7,752.00
  • elmusmolamas – fifth in the PokerStars Sunday 6-Max for $7,089.37
  • Charlie “Epiphany077” Carrel – first in the partypoker $50K GTD for $8,700.11
  • BeenWonderin – fourth in the 888poker $50,000 Turbo Mega Deep for $5,446.00
  • 03042921 – third in the 888poker $100,000 Sunday Challenge for $10,977.92
  • FakeLover – eighth in the 888poker $100,000 Sunday Challenge for $2,583.04

With the European Poker Tour Grand Final festivities only a week away, we fully expect players from the UK & Ireland to up their volume in preparation for it, not to mention the upcoming WSOP being just around the corner. Expect big things from our players in the coming weeks.
