Sunday Briefing: Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson Wins Sunday Million
The recent trend of British poker players dominating the PokerStars Sunday Million continued this week thanks to Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson walking away with top honours and a massive $194,479.20 payout.
Despite winning just shy of $200,000 in this latest win – the 92nd of his career according to his PocketFives profile – this isn’t Margereson’s largest cash because in September 2014, the lad from Chesterfield (now residing in Mexico) won the WCOOP edition of the Sunday Warm-Up for a wallet-bursting $244,175.
Margereson was joined in the final table by two fellow British players. "JIMMY5BELLYS" bust in fourth place for $70,323.00 while "KDJAll3" lost out to our champion heads-up and walked away with the $143,842.50 consolation prize.
Also enjoying some success at PokerStars this Sunday was Toby “810ofclubs” Lewis who finished in third place in the Sunday Kickoff for $13,174.40 and Elliott “elliottpet” Peterman who collected $15,126.75 for his sixth place finish in the Sunday 500.
Two of our players reached the finale of The Bigger $162 namely “serenityjl” who finished fifth for $11,585.25 and Ireland’s “sham123321” who bust one place deeper for $16,341.30.
Over at PokerStars’ sister site, Full Tilt, Rhys “floppin_ell” Jones excelled in the Super Sized Sunday and left with the $22,684.32 first place prize – Charlie “Epiphany77” Carrel finished ninth in the same event.
There were three of the UK & Ireland’s stars at the T-Rex final table, but sadly none of them could manage a win. Chris “MoormanI” Moorman finished ninth for $844.56, with Paul “Senapied” Senter coming eighth for $1,055.70. Ireland’s “Wine of Whiskey” went the deepest, busting in fifth place for $2,850.39.
Rounding out the Full Tilt results is the second place for Paul “pvas2” Vas Nunes in the Sunday Brawl for a welcomed $17,226 addition to his bankroll.
There was plenty to get excited about over at 888poker again this week, which seems to be a very happy hunting ground for British players of late.
Ireland’s “ItsConway” collected $16,467.77 for his fourth place in the star-studded $200,000 Whale, while “SpitOnGraves,” Ireland-based Italian Ivan “TripleAceIRL” Tononi and “babazee1” finished fourth, seventh and eighth in the $100,000 Mega Deep for combined scores in excess of $18,000.
Jude “j.thaddeus” Ainsworth managed a fifth place finish in the $50,000 Turbo Mega Deep for $4,084.50 with The $50,000 Sunday Crocodile’s final table being full of our players too; “Bradbfc10” finished fourth for $5,352.75, Andy “Andy.69.Nuts” Veselov finishing third for $6,800.62 and “d1sclosure” winning the whole shebang for $21,060.
Last, yet definitely not least, was the outright victory for “OMG_PorFavor” in the $100,000 Challenge that netted him $27,279.00.
