Felix Stephensen Leads UKIPT5 Nottingham High Roller
The 2014 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event runner-up, Felix Stephensen, is the man in front going into Day 2 of the £3,200 buy-in UKIPT Season 5 Nottingham High Roller event, going to show the draw both the UKIPT and Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) have on poker’s top talent.
Norway’s Stephensen finished Day 1 with a stack of 145,000 chips, 22,500 more than Argentina’s Ivan Luca, to top the chip counts at the close of play. A total of 51 entries were taken and of those 21 made it through the day relatively unscathed.
Some of those who didn’t manage to progress to Day 2, and are therefore clear to compete in the £1 million guaranteed Main Event, include Sam Trickett, PKR Team Pro Eleanor Gudger, Oliver Price, Igor Kurganov, Simon Deadman and Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody.
Cody’s fellow PokerStars patch-donning Liv Boeree did punch her ticket to Day 2, as did the likes of Ian Simpson (115,200), UKIPT5 London winner Rapinder Cheema (109,200), recent Genting Poker Series (GPS) Newcastle champion Ludovic Geilich (87,000), Keith Johnson (69,400), Mitch Johnson (58,600), Niall Farrell (51,200), Jack Salter (50,600), Max Silver (48,600), American star Bryn Kenney (47,500), man of the moment Matas Cimbolas (39,400), Craig McCorkell (36,000), Ben Dobson (21,400), and Christopher Brammer (16,800).
Play resumes at 1:00 p.m and continues until the tournament has its champion. Only seven of the 21 returnees walks away with prize money, with a min-cash weighing in at £7,800 and the eventual winner leaving Nottingham with £46,800 for their efforts.
