The partypoker World Poker Tour National UK Tour (WPTNUK) heads to Newcastle this weekend for the latest stop on its 2015 schedule and this time is it bringing with it a £100,000 guarantee on its Main Event.
Running from April 30 through to May 3, the WPTN Newcastle festival features four exciting events with buy-ins ranging from £55 up to a still affordable £200.
Kicking off the festivities is the £200 buy-in partypoker WPT Aspers Accumulator, which has proven to be extremely popular since its launch in 2014. These special events feature three starting flights and players can opt to play in one, two or all three of them, taking through to Day 2 any chips them finish with from each flight.
It’s a unique format that allows recreational players to have a shot at a larger prize pool, while giving those with deeper pockets – or who have won multiple seats at partypoker – the chance to build a massive stack for Day 2 and beyond.
There is a £110 buy-in WPTN Experience side event taking place on the evening of May 2 that sees players sit with 15,000 chips and play to 24-minute blinds, with an £80 buy-in WPTN 8-Max Bounty and £55 buy-in WPTN Turbo Charged Deepstack scheduled for May 3 while the Main Event progresses towards its conclusion.

When the tour last visited the North-East it attracted 412 entrants, which meant a prize pool of £74,160 was created. In order to hit the guarantee this time around, an additional 143 players are required so there is the possibility of some overlay for the value hunters out there.
Darren Mapley is the reigning champion having outlasted his 411 opponents, his reward being a bankroll-boosting £17,500. Mark Gray was the runner-up and he left Newcastle with £12245 in his back pocket and both players should be heading to Aspers in an attempt to recreate last year’s glory.
The atmosphere at Apsers Newcastle should be electric all weekend and not only because of the WPT being there. We have word that former Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle and England football star Peter Beardsley is going to be paying the tournament a visit plus there is the excitement surrounding the Floyd Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao fight going on – tickets of which are available at the cash desk for £5.
