Yucel Eminoglu Chops Super Tuesday For $71K; Ben Vinson Ninth

Yucel Eminoglu

Those of you who regularly participate in live poker events in the United Kingdom will no doubt have bumped into the popular figure of Yucel Eminoglu, the man affectionately known as “Mad Turk.” Well you will be seeing much more of the mad one thanks to him banking almost $72,000 by chopping the PokerStars Super Tuesday three-ways before going on to finish in second place.

A total of 559 players turned out for this week’s $1,050 buy-in event and, as usual, among those starters were some of the most respected and feared tournament players on the planet. Plenty of those stars made it into the top 63 finishing places – where the money was distributed – including British pros Sebastian “BassySaffari” Saffari (59th for $2,459.60), Billy “b8chatz” Chattaway (29th for $3,074.50) and Charlie “JIZOINT” Combes (24th for $3,354.00), Brandon “oncommand” Meyers (26th for $3,354.00) and German superstar Ole “wizowizo” Schemion (20th for $3,354.00).

By the time the nine-handed table was set, each of the surviving players had locked up $9,279.40 and there were two of our players in store for a big pay day; the aforementioned Eminoglu and former Super Tuesday champion Ben “vindog03” Vinson.

Super Tuesday Final Table (March 10, 2015)

3Jason “jcarverpoker” Somerville242,497
6Dylan “ImaLucSac Linde322,144
9Ben “vindog03” Vinson184,104

It was Vinson who was the first to fall at the final table, opening to 15,000 with {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} during the 3,600/7,200 level and being three-bet to 36,000 by Eminoglu. Vinson moved all-in for slightly less than 170,000 and Eminoglu snap-called, turning over {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} as he did so. The {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades} board provided no help for Vinson and he was gone in ninth place.

The prize money increased steadily with the exits of “Secret_M0d3,” “SHIR-1968,” “P.Iv3y,” and the recently appointed Team PokerStars Pro Jason “jcarverpoker” Somerville.

Somerville lost a huge flip with {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} versus the pocket tens of Dylan “ImaLucSac” Linde and then lost the rest of his stack when he moved all-in with {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and was called by “89rhino89” holding the dominating {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}. The five community cards fell {10-Clubs}{3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Somerville, who was streaming the tournament on Twitch, busted in fifth.

Next to fall was Linde in fourth place, a finish worth more than $43,000 and with the talented Canadian out of the way the final three players paused a tournament and deal discussions started. After a short while, they agreed to a “chip chop” deal and play resumed.

Sasha21571” busted in third place when his {6-Spades}{6-Clubs} couldn’t hold against 89rhino89’s {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} and when Eminoglu raised to 97,500 and then called 89rhino89’s shove it was all over.

Eminoglu flipped over {A-Hearts}{7-Spades} and was ahead of the {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} in 89rhino89’s hand. That fact only remained true up to the {Q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop. The {6-Hearts} landed on the turn and was followed into view by the {Q-Diamonds} river, sending Eminoglu to the rail in second place and leaving 89rhino89 to be crowned the latest Super Tuesday champion.
