Tom Hall and Alex Goulder Climb Up The UK Global Poker Index
There has been little change in either the United Kingdom or Ireland Global Poker Index rankings with the top 20 of each country remaining almost exactly the same. But, and here’s the but, the top 10 of each country’s leader board are so tightly packed that one significant result could have a major impact on the standings.
Stephen Chidwick still leads in the UK despite falling out of the worldwide top 10 places. Chidwick has a lead of 345.46 points over second placed Jack Salter, although Salter’s points tally does not include his fifth place in the $50,000 buy-in High Roller event at the 2015 World Poker Tour (WPT) L.A. poker Classic that netted him $153,450.
The only other players in the top 10 to record a cash recently are Niall Farrell and Tamer Kamel.
Farrell finished 29th from 538 entrants in the 2015 WPT L.A. Poker Classic for $30,900 while Kamel reached the money places in the Sky Poker UK Poker Championships Main Event, min-cashing for £2,000 as he did so.
Two other players doing well for themselves at the Sky Poker UK Poker Championships were Tom Hall and Alex Goulder. Hall climbed to 12th in the UK rankings following his fifth place finish in the Main Event (£40,000) while Goulder cleaned up with a min-cash in the Main Event, a fifth place finish in the High Roller (£10,000) and a third place in the UKPC 8-Max (£7,400). Goulder is now ranked 172nd in the world, his highest position to date.

Dermot Blain In Charge in Ireland
There wasn’t much change in the Irish standings either and it is still Dermot Blain who is sat at the top of the pile. Sadly, Blain has slipped to 320th in the world, meaning there are no Irish grinders in the GPI300 – sort it out boys and girls!
Blain did cash in the WPT L.A. Poker Classic side event so will extend his lead over Marc MacDonnell when those points are added to his profile, while the likes of Andrew King, Chris Dowling, Daragh Davey and Rory Brown all boosted their own totals with cashes in February.
King had a trio of cashes in the Eureka Poker Tour Rozvadov and is now ranked sixth in the Emerald Isle. Dowling managed a 23rd place in the Sky Poker UK Poker Championships Main Event (£5,500) while both Davey and Brown cashed in events in Ireland to improve their previous positions.
