Sunday Briefing: Ireland’s Daniel Wilson Banks $58K Score

Sunday Briefing

March 8, 2015 was just another day for the vast majority of the people on this planet, but for Irish grinder Daniel “NukeTheFish!” Wilson it was a special day. It was the day that he had his largest-ever score in an online poker tournament.

Wilson has been on our radar for a few months now, not due to hitting big scores on a regular basis but more because he seems to reach the money places with an alarming regularity. Until March 8, Wilson’s largest online cash weighed in at $21,216.00, his reward for winning a PokerStars Big $109 in February 2014. Now the man from Galway can brag of a $58,228.72 online cash thanks to finishing second in the Sunday 500 at PokerStars.

It is a fantastic result for Wilson and one that closes the gap between himself and John “gruaiggorm” Daly in the Irish online poker rankings. Wilson is currently occupying fourth place in the standings and is 329.72 points behind his nearest rival in the system.

Also helping himself to a nice PokerStars Sunday Majors score was former European Poker Tour London champion David “davidv1213” Vamplew who finished second in The Bigger $162 for $32,004.00, while Ben “jenbizzle” Jones collected $7,839.00 for his seventh place finish in the Sunday Rebuy.

There were some impressive results in the 888poker Sunday tournaments, too. “Pabulike14” finished as runner-up in The $100,000 mega Deep for a cool $22,549.80, a similar amount won by Rick “WhosToClaim” Trigg who took down the $50,000 Sunday Crocodile. Trigg was joined at the final table by Martin “FishMobBadge” Malone (fourth for $4,867.80), Kyle “MacAulish” Maguire (eighth for $1,755.60) and Rob “RTinnion” Tinnion (ninth for $1,276.80).

The final table of the 888poker $100,000 Sunday Challenge also had a trio of our players at it. “Lichu348” performed the best and finished fourth for $7,242.84 with Ireland’s “kidmiller1” and the UK’s “shipwright” busting in fifth and seventh place for scores of $6,035.70 and $3,621.42.

Over at Full Tilt, Talal “raidalot” Shakerchi had a brace of near misses, finishing third in the Big Ben for $5,744.25 and then finishing ninth in The Sunday Major for $3,259.90. Shakerchi lost out to fellow Brit Sam “Sammy_grinder” Grafton in the Big Ben as Grafton took down the tournament and walked away with $10,736.46 after a heads-up chop.

Keeping with Full Tilt, “Flop_Me_HappyOK” and Charlie “Epiphany77” Carrell reached the final table of the Super Sized Sunday, finishing sixth and seventh for $4,750.68 and $3,239.10 additions to their bankrolls.

Yet another fantastic Sunday that sets up the British and Irish players up perfectly for the week ahead. The best of luck to you all!
