Jude Ainsworth Back On Top in the Irish Online Poker Rankings

Jude Ainsworth

There has been plenty of movement in the Irish online poker rankings this week. There is a new name occupying the top spot, a re-entry into the top 10 for one of the country’s most popular grinders and a completely new name added to the top 20.

The battle to be Ireland’s number one is a four horse race these days with the top four players all having more than 4,100 points and only 282.96 separating them all. Returning to the top of the pile this week is Jude Ainsworth thanks to an 11th place finish in the 888poker $200,000 Whale ($2,624), a runner-up finish in the Hot €100 Turbo at ($2,278) and a win in the Hot €30 ($2,414).

Those results were enough to push Ainsworth above Kevin “SuitedAcesBaby” Killeen, but only by the slimmest of margins, namely 13.91 points!

Closing the gap on the top two players is Daniel “NukeTheFish!” Wilson who this week helped himself to a cool $58,228.72 after finishing second in the PokerStars Sunday 500. Wilson also managed a third place finish in the PokerStars $55 NL Hold’em rebuy ($2,545) and a runner-up finish in the Big €20 ($1,728) among a couple of dozen of in-the-money finishes.

Returning to the top 10 this week, and deservedly so, is Dara “Doke” O’Kearney. Fresh from winning his fourth Triple Crown, O’Kearney has continued to grind and has a sweat for his fifth Triple Crown.

A win in the Hot €30 at ($9,661) and a win in the William Hill €15,000 Sunday Pheonix mean O’Kearney has a couple of days to win another qualifying tournament on a or William Hill site. He came close this week when he reached the final table of the PokerStars $82 NL Hold’em 6-Max Hyper third from six in chips, but crashed out in sixth place. Good luck, sir.

The new face in the Irish top 20 this week is that of Galway’s “rtspurs” who only created a PocketFives account on March 10. Once his scores were calculated, rtspurs debuted in 12th place in the Irish standings and 600th in the world.

Rtspurs has almost $650,000 in online tournament winnings, an impressive total aided by wins in the PokerStars Sunday Supersonic ($58,866) in May 2013 and a TCOOP event in 2014 for $24,675.

Oscar Serradell Holds Onto Top UK Rank

While the Irish top 20 had plenty to shout about this past week, it was a relatively quiet seven days for those sporting the Union Jack next to their names in the various online poker tournament lobbies.

Bristol-based Spaniard Oscar “MendaLerenda” Serradell is still the number one in the UK and is now ranked sixth in the world, which is a career high for him. Serradell’s fellow Spaniard, Vicente Delgado, is in second place in the UK followed by former world number one Patrick Leonard, Rick Trigg and Jareth East, the latter climbing one place to fifth this week.
