Much like the live grinders, online poker tournament specialists have plenty of options this weekend thanks to festival finales at Full Tilt and PokerStars, and the start of the 2015 Pokerfest at partypoker.
Those of you on a budget may want to head to PokerStars this weekend where the 10th edition of MicroMillions draws to an end. Easily the highlight of the entire festival is the Main Event, which features a massive $1 million guaranteed prize pool despite costing only $22 to enter.
When the MicroMillions Main Event last run, in November 2014, it attracted 58,032 players to PokerStars’ virtual felt and awarded $1,160,640 to those fortunate enough to finish in the money places. The eventual champion was “makarios007” who turned his $22 investment into $92,899 after a three-way chop.
If the $22 buy-in is out of your reach, check out the various satellites that are running right up to the start of the event on March 29. These qualifiers start as low as $0.22 and there is even the option to use your FPPs to buy into some of them.
The high rollers among you will already be aware that the FTOPS finishes on Sunday with the $1,000 buy-in Main Event. Like the MicroMillions Main Event, the FTOPS Main Event has a $1 million guarantee, but this one is sure to be a completely star-studded affair.
Scottish grinder Niall “Firaldo87” Farrell has fond memories of the FTOPS Main Event having won one in April 2014. On that occasion Farrell outlasted a field of 2,557 to get his hands on $236,232.74 – by far the largest cash of his career.
Last, but most certainly not least, is the 2015 Pokerfest at partypoker. Sunday see the first nine of 77 events take place at partypoker and there is something for everyone to get their teeth into. The best value tournament of the weekend looks to be Pokerfest Event #6, which is a $200 buy-in with a $250,000 guarantee. This replaces the usual $200,000 Guaranteed that has overlaid for the past few months and this one probably won’t buck the trend.
