Four Champions Crowned at the APAT World Championships

Vinny Anderson: 2015 APAT WCOAP Irish Poker champion

While the European Poker Tour (EPT) was busy crowning its new champions in Malta, the Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) was setting up shop in the heart of the British capital, London, where the 2015 World Championship Of Amateur Poker (WCOAP) is taking place.

The action has been fast and furious and there have already been four champions created, each one of them winning a bankroll-boosting sum of cash, the coveted APAT gold medal and the much sought after WCOAP championship bracelet.

Event #1 of the WCOAP was the £50+£5 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha World Championship, a tournament that attracted 66 players to the Aspers Stratford felt. One of the entrants, Paresh Doshi, fancies himself as a PLO aficionado and finished second in a £200+£20 PLO side event at the 2015 UKIPT London festival for £2,200. Now he has an outright victory in the game after defeating Dorina Clochan heads-up for the title.

A popular format in live poker tournaments is the Ante-Only where there are no blinds. Instead, everyone pays an ante from the word go and these antes increase in place of the blinds.

Having missed out on some PLO glory by pure bubbling, Milena Langdale put some demons to bed and topped the field of 62 to get her hands on the gold medal, championship bracelet and a welcomed £975.

March 30 sees two more WCOAP events take place and that means two more champions are to be crowed. There is a Mix Max Championship where play begins full ring, then swaps to short-handed before settling the event heads-up.

Also taking place is the Pot Limit Omaha 4/5/6 championship, a dealers choice event where entrants will play not only standard PLO but also five-card and six-card Omaha.
