Charlie Combes and Sam Grafton Climb the UK Online Poker Rankings

Charlie Combes and Sam Grafton

Two of the United Kingdom’s high-profile online grinders have improved their UK online poker rankings this week and are climbing back towards a top 10 place.

Charlie Combes, known as “JIZOINT” at PokerStars and “chaz_man_chaz” at Full Tilt, is a player who was ranked as high as sixth in the world during 2013. He now occupies 150th place in the worldwide rankings, but we’re predicting that he’ll improve on that massively in the coming weeks.

Combes has been putting in some solid value and when a player who has more than $5.1 million in lifetime online winnings plays a lot of poker, the results start to flood in. The Winchester-born pro has been knocking on the door of big scores for the past few weeks with results such as a seventh place finish in the $265 NL Hold’em Knockout, tenth place in the Full Tilt Benjamin, third place in the PokerStars $54 NL Hold’em Knockout, fourth place in FTOPS Event #10, fifth place in the Full tilt Big Ben and a third place in the PokerStars $109 NL Hold’em Rebuy.

Mark our words, Combes is going to hit something big in the next couple of weeks and will be marching up the rankings back to the lofty heights of 2013.

Another stalwart of the online poker world is Sam Grafton who this week returned to the UK top 20. Grafton has taken a brief holiday from online grind, with his last result being victory in the March 16 edition of the partypoker $100,000 Guaranteed High Roller for $19,500. This result, and the fact Grafton plays a ton of tournaments each week, have seen him climb back into the limelight.

Rounding out the UK, we have to mention Andy “andyh26” Holman who now finds himself ranked seventh in the UK and 54th in the world, both are his highest-ever rankings. Holman owes this lofty position to results such as a runner-up finish in the $215 NL Hold’em Re-entry ($5,518), third place in the $109 NL Hold’em Turbo Re-Entry ($1,729) and a win in the $109 NL Hold’em Turbo ($9,658) all at PokerStars. Top work, Mr Holman.

Conor O’Driscoll Jumps To a Career High

Over on the Emerald Isle, Jude Ainsworth managed to hold onto the number one spot despite the best efforts of Kevin “SuitedAcesBaby” Killeen who finished fifth in the PokerStars Bigger $55 on Sunday, a tournament that if he had won would have seen him oust Ainsworth at the top.

Moving up six places this week, and to an all-time high in Ireland and the world, is Conor “ccoonnoorr” O’Driscoll. The Limerick-based player now finds himself in seventh place in Ireland and 497 in the world thanks in part to winning The Big $11 at PokerStars for a cool $10,319.

O’Driscoll has had some superb results in 2015 including winning the PokerStars Hotter $44 for $17116 and winning the Nigh on Stars for $7,880. Keep an eye on this talented youngster because he seems to know his way around a poker table.

Also on the rise is Daragh Davey, who returns to the top 10 following his runner-up finish in the 888poker $100,000 Sunday Challenge, a result that secured a $15,405 payday.
