Upcoming Events Could See Big UK & Ireland GPI Changes
There are few changes to bot the United Kingdom and Ireland Global Poker Index (GPI) rankings this week with the only alterations in the standings caused by the natural decaying of the players' points, but we envisage some majors changes in the next few weeks thanks to some major events taking place in the UK and Europe.
In the UK, David Vamplew climbed one place to fourth while Seng Man Ung now finds himself in 12th place up from 16th. World Poker Tour Prague champion Alex Goulder has improved his position slightly from 17th to 16th and Ludovic Geilich re-enters the top 20.
With the European Poker Tour (EPT) Deauville festival not really bearing fruit for our grinders it was a quiet couple of weeks for them in terms of GPI points. As mentioned, the next few weeks are huge for British players and there is potential for getting their hands on tons of leader board points.
Before looking at those upcoming events, feast your eyes on the current top 20 in the UK and Ireland GPI standings.

The £200,000 guaranteed UK Poker Championships Mini kicks off today at Dusk Till Dawn and is sure to attract plenty of attention despite its low buy-in. With several Day 1s for players to get their teeth into, the only thing mini about the UKPC Mini is its name.
Following the UKPC Mini is the £3,000 buy-in Sky Poker UK Poker Championships High Roller whose entrants list should read like a who's who of UK & Irish poker. And let's not forget the £1 million guaranteed Main Event that runs from Wednesday 25 February until Sunday 1 March.
Once the events at DTD are done and dusted, many of those who competed there will jet off to the sunny Mediterranean county that is Malta for its inaugural EPT festival. PokerStars are throwing everything at EPT Malta to make it a roaring success and that means plenty of events and value for those in the GPI top 20 and below to win bags of cash and claim those leader board points.
As always, UK & Ireland PokerNews will have an ear to the ground and will bring you updates from all of the major events around the globe that our players are involved in.
