Sunday Million Win Pushes Rob Tinnion To An All-Time High

Rob Tinnion

Rob Tinnion hit the headlines earlier this week when he won the PokerStars Sunday Million for the second time in five months. Not only did Tinnion collect $200136.96 for his amazing victory, he also banked more than 1,100 points in the online poker rankings and these were enough to push Tinnion to an all-time high.

Tinnion now finds himself ranked seventh in the United Kingdom standings and a 62nd in the entire world and it is nothing less than he deserves. Since mid-2010, Tinnion has continually put in huge volume at the virtual felt and can brag of an incredible 4,581 cashes to date and $1,413,656 in cashes. Log onto PokerStars, Full Tilt and 888poker on any given night and you're likely to bump into Tinnion whether you're playing in a $2 freezeout of a $200 buy-in rebuy; he is one of the few players who can lay claim to being a legitimate grinder.

Another British pro reaching new heights is Andy “andyh26” Holman. The Cardiff based player is another who puts in a lot of volume and it is reaping dividends of late with a runner-up finish in the PokerStars Super Tuesday for $75,460 being his biggest-ever result.

Also moving in the right direction are Andy “wiisssppppaa” Taylor and Niall “firaldo” Farrell.

Taylor has climbed to 12th in the UK and a career-high 88th in the world following a string of impressive results. On Sunday, Taylor won the Full Tilt T-Rex ($11,523), finished ninth in the PokerStars Supersonic ($4,203) and came second in the PokerStars Sunday Rebuy ($36,126) resulting in his rise up the rankings.

Farrell has been ranked as highly as 35th in the world and returned to the UK top 20 this week on the back of a runner-up finish in the Full Tilt Big Ben ($10,899). Last week, Farrell came third in the PokerStars Sunday 500 ($34,502), which helped push him up the leader board.

Jude Ainsworth Set To Claim Number One Spot In Ireland

The gap at the top of the Irish online poker rankings is a mere 14.12 points after former Team PokerStars Pro Jude “j.thaddeus” Ainsworth continues to go deep in major online tournaments, seemingly at will.

Since Sunday, Ainsworth has finished fifth in the Sunday Brawl at Full Tilt ($7,750), fifth in the €150 NL Hold'em KO ($4,064) and second in the Winamax Highroller ($5,952). With the volume Ainsowrth generally outs in on a weekly basis, he should be back on top in the Emerald Isle by the weekend.

Shout out to Dan “NukeTheFish!” Wilson who has climbed to fourth in Ireland and a career-high 346th in the world. Wilson's lofty position is partly down to his win in the PokerStars $109 NL Hold'em Turbo ($6,357), runner-up finish in the PokerStars Big $22 ($5,258) and his second place finish in a €10 buy-in event at PokerStars' France-facing site ($2,914).
