The penultimate starting flight of the £1 million guaranteed 2015 Sky Poker UK Poker Championships Main Event took place on Thursday 26 February at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham and saw the largest crowd of players descend on the club so far.
A total of 206 entries (re-entries included) took the total attendance up to 394 and this means that Day 1b need no less than 606 entries in order to avoid overlaying on the massive £1 million prize pool.
One player who won't be playing on Day 1d as she completely bulldozed her way through Day 1c, is Sin Melin. The popular grinder bagged up an impressive 583,000 chips at the close of play to claim the Day 1c chip lead and give her the perfect opportunity for a massive score.
Melin seems to enjoy herself at the Dusk Till Dawn felt judging by the fact six of her last eight cashes have all been in Nottingham, including a 45th place finish in the star-studded partypoker WPT UK Main Event in November 2014.
Now that Melin has a big stack at her disposal, she is going to be a pain in the neck for whoever is unfortunate enough to be seated with her on Day 2.
Joining Melin through to Day 2 with more than half a million chips are Hui Jin and Tom Kugelstadt. Jin cashed in the UKPC Mini earlier this week (155/2049) and earlier this month finished third in the Genting Poker Series Birmingham Main Event for almost £23,000.
2015 Sky Poker UK Poker Championship Day 1c Top 10 Chip Counts
Day 1c was a successful day for many of the UK's top players, which makes Day 2 look quite shark infested to say the least.
Alex Goulder, the reigning partypoker WPT Prague champion, ended the night with 362,500 chips while the 385,500 stack of Jonathan “Skalie” Kalmar was enough to place him eight in the Day 1c end-of-day chip counts.
Others who are safely through to Day 2 include the 2014 Sky Poker UK Poker Championships Main Event winner Alex Spencer (318,500), Morten Mortensen (286,000), Jon Spinks (277,500), Ben Winsor (272,500), Yucel “Mad Turk” Eminoglu (272,000), Chris Sly (229,500), Gareth Teatum (219,000), Steve Watts (197,000), Ireland's Dara Davey (153,000), Waheed “Wadey” Ashraf (148,000), Charlie Combes (133,500), and Leon Louis (129,000).
Those of you preparing to play on Day 1d need to be prepared for a potential wait because there will be an alternates list. As is always the case, DTD will do everything in their power to seat everyone so please be patient if you are heading to Europe's premier card room on Friday 27 February.
Among those expected to play on Day 1d include Liam Batey, Genting Poker Series Newcastle winner Tim Chung, Ryan Spittles, Andrew “stato_1” Hulme, John Duthie, Nick Hicks, Jeff Kimber, Jareth East, two-time Sunday Million winner Rob Tinnion, the legend that is Barny Boatman, Ben Jackson, Paul McTaggart, Julian Thew, Ben Warrington, Michael Kane, Jonathan Gill and Simon Higgins who al crashed and burned on Day 1c – quite the list of stars we're sure you'll agree.
