Patrick Leonard Starts 2015 As UK's Number One Online Player

Patrick Leonard

The first update of the online poker rankings in 2015 s complete and it is a familiar face at the top of the United Kingdom's leader board, that of Patrick Leonard.

Leonard starts the year with 7,052.07 points, some 798.36 more than second placed Rick “TheClaimeer” Trigg and 868.10 points more than the Team PokerStars Online Vicente Delgado in third spot. The following 12 months should be an interesting battle between the three Goliaths and indeed the chasing pack.

Chris “moorman1” Moorman begins in fourth place thanks in part to booking a $23,268 win in The Big $162 on December 30. Hot on Moorman's heels is the Spanish pro Oscar “MendaLerenda” Serradell and slightly further behind him is Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson who you may recall had a fourth place finish in this weekend's Super Sized Sunday at Full Tilt that netted his $10,200.

Another British player starting 2015 as he means to go on is Rhys “floppinhel” Jones who walked away with $29,518 after taking down The Bigger $55 at PokerStars on January 4, which is the same day that Jareth “jareth3542” East came fourth in The Hotter $44 for a cool $6,592.

Both Daryl “PS1GREENY” Green and Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford already have a brace of wins each in 2015. Green won The Hot $33 ($8,476) and the $215 NL Hold'em Turbo ($7,009) both at PokerStars, while Beresford took down the $55 rebuy NL Hold'em ($3,210) and the $109 NL Hold'em Turbo ($4,150) also at PokerStars.

Lastly, Billy “BillyChat” Chattaway returns to the UK's top 20on the back of his back-to-back Sunday 2nd Chance wins. Not only did the Londoner collect more than $100,000 for the two wins, he also pocketed 1,083.15 points to add to his PocketFives tally.

gruaiggorm On Top In Ireland

Over in the Emerald Isle it is the player known as “gruaiggorm” who begins the year at the top of the Irish standings, a position that we have a feeling is going to be hotly contested during the coming year.

There are only 119.15 points separating gruaiggorm and the UKIPT Dublin champion Kevin “SuitedAcesBaby” Killeen in second place and when you have the likes of Jude “j.thaddeus” Ainsworth (who has already banked a $9,640 score), high-volume grinder Tomas “luckymo32” Geleziunas and Cathal “shinerrr” Shine (who finished third in the Bigger $55 for $29,167 on January 4) among others in the hunt, the race to be Ireland's number one should be an exciting one to watch.
