DTD Grand Prix Kicks Off Jan. 9; APAT Ireland Jan 10 0001

We may only be at the start of the second week of 2015 but that has not stopped the management team at Europe's premier card room, Dusk Till Dawn (DTD), from hosting a huge £200,000 guaranteed tournament at their Nottingham-based club.

Kicking off at 7:00 p.m on Friday 9 January is the latest incarnation of the DTD Grand Prix, a £100+£10 buy-in event that boasts an ambitious £200,000 guaranteed prize pool, of which £50,000 is made up from putting 50 x Sky Poker UK Poker Championships Main Event seats into the mix.

The DTD Grand Prix features eight starting flights held at the superb DTD club and an additional four start days at its online arm. Players are permitted to play all 12 Day 1s if they so wish, but they can only carry their largest stack through to Day 2, held on Sunday 18 January at 3:00 p.m.

All live Day 1s see players sit down with 50,000 stacks and playing to a 30-minute clock (the turbo on Day h has 15-minute blinds), with the online contingent starting with the same 50,000 chips but with a quicker 12-minute clock.

DTD ran a Grand Prix in April 2014 that attracted a crowd of 2,856 players who were all outlasted by Luigi Viscomi, the recipient of the £25,000 first place prize. Similar, if not better, numbers are expected for the first Grand Prix of 2015, which means someone is going to have an amazing start to the year!

APAT Season 8 Irish Amateur Poker Championship Runs January 10-11

DTD Grand Prix Kicks Off Jan. 9; APAT Ireland Jan 10 101

The Amateur Poker Association and Tour (APAT) heads across the Irish Sea this weekend where it will drop anchor in Dublin for the Irish Amateur Poker Championship, a tournament that is being played with a little twist in 2015.

Instead of playing the €100+€20 buy-in Main Event as no limit Hold'em as in previous editions, the APAT management team have set Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) as the Main Event's game of choice, something that has never been done before during the APAT's eight seasons.

The event is a Double Chance Freezeout which means players start with 20,000 chips and can claim an additional 20,000 chips any time before the second break in play. Players can choose to take the 20,000 straight away and be playing with 40,000 stacks, or use the 20,000 as a rebuy of sorts before that second break.

PLO is a very popular in the Emerald Isle and we're sure that this latest APAT Main Event is going to be a roaring success. Do let us know if you're heading to Bewleys Hotel at Dublin Airport for the PLO Main Event.
